What customers say
This friendly, small campsite has a popular on-site pub. Staff are frequently praised as welcoming and helpful. Facilities are generally clean, though some note they're a bit dated. Noise from the nearby train line and occasional weddings is a common drawback. Pitches can be uneven. Good value and convenient for stopovers.

Friendly welcome and plenty of space.…
Primitive grass and gravel campsite
Liked Friendly welcome and plenty of space. Quiet after 10pm.
Disliked Uneven field, train track next to field quite noisy till midnight.

Friendly staff and the pub was the saving grace. Won’t camp again.
Primitive grass and gravel campsite
Liked Friendly staff and decent pub food.
Disliked The field was littered with cigarette butts and bottle caps, and there was an abandoned airbed, metal railings and traffic cone and an old wheel lying around which made the site look really scruffy. The field was also a slope which wasn’t ideal for pitching tents.

Liked Friendly staff, shower was warm and powerful.
Disliked Some of the site is sloped. Toilet/shower block is a bit run down. Quite expensive for a single person with small tent, limited facilities.

Primitive grass and gravel campsite
Liked Facilities were clean.
Disliked Take your pick between being metres from a railway line or metres from an electricity pylon. One of the staff was very helpful with our tent and I am grateful for that however.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass campsite
Liked Really helpful staff. Clean and looks to be maintained daily.
Pitches are not cramped together so lots of space to spread out.
Disliked Pub wasnt open on our visit, the opening times are on the website so not an issue, next time will go towards end of the week for a weekend visit.

Liked The owners were lovely and very helpful
Just off A1
Disliked Very uneven pitches and almost impossible to level caravan which was ok for one night.
Toilets very basic and not clean but think it customers just not cleaning up after themselves. When I went in showers had rubbish and hairs everywhere
Strong smell from what looked like standing water/sewage in nearby field

Primitive grass and gravel campsite
Liked A very welcoming place. staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed for a week and we'll go again. Facilities basic but adequate .the railway and motorway are not far away from the site. Which can be a little bit noisy but didn't bother me .it would be a perfect stop over place for people traveling North or South. the whole site has a friendly atmosphere .although I never had food in the pub the food I saw being served looked really nice. unlike most sites no loud music at all the whole week no rowdy parties made an ice change compared to other sides the price is more than reasonable and one of the cheapest sites around the area

Friendly staff, helpful and chatty. Great for the dog.
Primitive grass and gravel campsite
Liked Friendly and welcoming staff.
Disliked Nothing really, the tent field is quite large, so chose your pitch carefully of you want a flat one! It does have a train track, but the trains stop at midnight and resume at 6am and didn't disturb too much.
