  • Well-maintained touring site on the edge of Halesworth in Suffolk
  • Southwold 20 minutes’ drive and historic Aldeburgh 40 minutes
  • Fully serviced pitches set among greenery; farm shop and garden centre
'Neat as a pin' is a good description of The Beeches Touring Park, a very well-kept Suffolk site on the outskirts of Halesworth. It’s a peaceful, dog-friendly spot set in lots of greenery, and also a handy adults-only base for exploring east-coast beaches, the lively coastal town of Southwold (20 minutes’ drive) and cultured Aldeburgh (40 minutes). All the spacious and fully serviced pitches are marked out by neat hedgerows and backed by trees. There’s a grey water drain at the back of the pitches, along with waste disposal points, recycling facilities, fresh water taps and hook-ups for your TVs and wifi. The market town of Halesworth (five minutes’ drive to the centre) is the go-to place for picking up supplies for your barbecue, chilling out with a pint in a pub or dining out in one of the restaurants. A bus stop with a direct 20-minute route to Southwold is also handily only five minutes' walk away from the site. While you're here, don't forget to have a wander around the on-site farm shop and garden centre. The farm shop has a splendid selection of fresh and good-quality local produce suitable for your barbecue. Meanwhile, the garden centre is stocked with healthy plants and also has a pet shop selling treats, food and even beds for your four-legged companions. Any questions? There’s a warden on site between the hours of 9am and 5pm seven days a week.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite (medium)

Liked A real gem of a site. Pitches are spacious and really well laid out, with hedges in between. The site is immaculately kept, close enough to places like Southwold for a trip out but has a well stocked farm shop if you just want to relax in this peaceful site. Site manager, Charlie, is very friendly and very helpful; has plenty of tips for local dog walks. We had only booked 2 nights sadly, so will definitely make a return visit.

Local attractions

Your Suffolk exploring might begin at Southwold (20 minutes’ drive), where you can stroll down the historic pier, soak up some rays on the beach and climb to the top of the landmark lighthouse to see the town and coastline from a new perspective – there are lots of arty shop to discover as well. Catch Aldeburgh (40 minutes) in June for its renowned music festival; visit anytime to admire the pastel-coloured houses along its seafront and browse upmarket stores. Backed by cliffs, Covehithe Beach (25 minutes) is the spot for romantic strolls, and you have a choice of walks and bike rides in the scenic Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape. The golfers among you can practise your swing on several courses within 20 minutes’ drive of your home base. Turning inland, pretty Beccles (25 minutes) is gateway to cruises, kayaking and paddleboarding expeditions along the River Waveney, and boating trips into the southern Broads. There’s also a popular lido for outdoor dips in summer.
