  • Friendly, well-maintained site just outside Mundesley, north Norfolk
  • Cromer 20 minutes’ drive; Norwich 40 minutes
  • Pub, supermarket and other amenities within a mile
Pick a pitch at Hayfield Hideaways if you want to be close to some of the most splendid parts of Norfolk’s north coast. Surrounded by natural scenes and within easy walking distance (15 minutes, via a footpath) of the traditional village of Mundesley (and its beach), this site is also a five-minute walk from a bus stop where you can catch the Norfolk Coasthopper. It really couldn’t be easier to leave the car behind. Hayfield Hideaways is a family-run business that welcomes well-behaved kids and waggy-tailed friends. This is the sort of place to head to if you’re after a simple rural escape surrounded by lots of open space. In addition to a level grass field, the well-maintained site has a good range of basic services, with two toilets and two showers, plus other handy facilities like waste disposal points. After a long day exploring what’s on offer in the surrounding area – from North Sea beaches to the Norfolk Broads (half an hour’s drive) – you can relax at your pitch over a barbecue or head towards Mundesley, where there’s a variety of spots to eat including pubs, restaurants and fish and chip shops. Other amenities – a supermarket, butcher’s shop, ice-cream parlour and fruit and veg shop – are within a mile of the site.

What customers say

Hayfield Hideaways is a peaceful, well-kept campground with spacious pitches amid wildflowers. Guests rave about the spotless facilities, friendly, helpful owners, and relaxed vibe. Great location for coastal exploration, with an easy walk to Mundesley village and beach. Some road noise on nearby pitches & limited kids' entertainment. Highly recommended for a tranquil escape.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautiful campsite. Well kept, the toilets were always clean and proper toilets which we loved! Great washing up facilities. Didn’t use the showers but they looked fab. We loved the layout and space between pitches. We had a beautiful clear night and could see so many stars at night with a beautiful sunset. Owner was really lovely too. Overall a great stay - we’ll be back for longer next time!

Disliked Nothing really. The road nearby can be a little noisy but it’s not that bad, and I always bring ear plugs anyway.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We loved everything about this campsite. The pitches were spacious with lovely surroundings. The campsite owners were friendly and helpful - they froze our ice packs for us and were very understanding when we had to make an unexpected late night trip to A and E! The showers were powerful and warm and the toilets were kept really clean. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Local attractions

The lively programme at the Pavilion Theatre in Cromer (20 minutes’ drive) includes tribute musical acts, stand-up comedy sessions and dance nights. The theatre occupies the tip of the town’s Victorian pier, where there are also a handful of dining options. Take a leisurely walk along the beach before climbing the Doctor’s Steps up to North Lodge Park. Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate (20 minutes) is a National Trust country house with elegant interiors decorated with delicate wallpaper (including hand-printed examples), paintings and handmade furniture. Aromatic herbs grow in the pretty walled garden, while the grounds include a vast area of woodland. In Norwich (40 minutes), take a trip back to the Middle Ages as you stroll along Elm Hill, a cobbled street lined with half-timbered buildings. Or visit Norwich Cathedral, with its splendid vaulted cloister, where you can meditate as you walk along the central grass labyrinth. There are views of the River Wensum’s leafy banks from St George’s St Bridge.
