  • Traditional family site in meadows around a working farm
  • Away from main roads, half an hour's drive from Norwich
  • Heated shower and toilet block, launderette and hairdryers
Your fledglings should love this farm site – and those in charge of the flock are very likely to agree. Park Farm Camping near Dereham in Norfolk is simple, affordable and no-frills… but doesn’t skimp on the amenities either: the heated shower and toilet block even has free hairdryers in the ladies for those of you who like to keep barnets shipshape at all times. The site is managed by Julie and Derek, who run the place as a traditional and safe site for small fry and their tribes: it’s in meadows around a working farm, with wildlife all around and farm animals to see in the next field. There’s heaps of space even in the height of summer for all the herd (including the dog) to run around, as well as a wood to explore and a small play area to swing around – with everything secluded away from main roads for chicks to be safely free range. All this, and campfires are allowed too. Other creature comforts at Park Farm include a launderette, free wifi, public phone and a shop to pick up essentials. Off site, a pub, deli, village shop, bakery, post office, grocer and butcher are all in Swanton Morley a couple of minutes’ drive away.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Very friendly staff. Big open field, pitches against the hedge. Nice hot showers.
Leval pitches.

Disliked Could be noisy if there was a wedding on next door, but I didn’t experience that when I was there.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked A very chilled site. Host very friendly. Honesty shop with basic essentials open all times we needed it.
Large pitches with a very large area in the middle for games etc.
All other campers very friendly.
Showers and toilets clean.
A nice 20 or so minute walk to local pub and shop.
10 minute drive to Tescos.
We somehow took a wrong turn on the listed circular walk as we ended up doing 5 miles but the walk was really nice taking in quiet country lanes, meadows, riverside and small wooded areas.

Liked Everything! Back to basics, simple, peaceful and super friendly. Lovely little play area, which was loved by the children aged 12, 10, 8 and 4. It was so nice to see them making friends and playing out all day without the lure of devices and tech!
Onsite small shop within reception, nice warm toilet/showerblock.
Everything was clean and well maintained. Lovely green areas, wildflowers, natural bush lines.
Loved the fire pit hire. Includes 2 generous log bags, kindling and firelighters.
Management contactable easily on WhatsApp which was a fab little touch, which made questions much easier to ask without trekking to reception (especially in the rain and wind!)
Will definitely be back :)

Liked Spaced out pitches,
Could hire the fire pits ,which the children loved to melt there marshmallows.

Disliked Only two toilets and showers, which was fine as the site was fairly empty but if full could be a problem.

Liked Had a great week at the campsite and would definitely recommend and stay again . There was some very nice walks and a pub that does good food within 5 min drive .

Disliked The showers and toilets could do with updating and more of them . We were lucky as was a quiet week but near the end of the week had queues for showers and toilets .

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked Lovely family campsite and the couple running it are super. Kids made friends and loved the zip wire in the playground. Amazing little shop on site and make sure you hire the fire pit during you stay! Flat fields. Well kept and clean. Showers were lovely temperature and clean.

Disliked Toilets and washing up was clean but needs a bit of an upgrade. Not enough to say the stay was not enjoyable.
WiFi is a bit slow and patchy, and limited phone signal on site, but went camping to escape the phones and again didn’t impact the holiday.

Local attractions

Anglers can cast off at the Norfolk coast about half an hour away to try their luck at landing mackerel, bass and cod. You could pick a beach or seaside town to drive to every day of your holiday at Park Farm too: seal-spotting boat trips from Morston and Blakeney, as well as swishing around somewhat swanky Wells-next-the-Sea and Burnham Market (aka Chelsea-on-Sea) are all within 40 minutes' drive. Within 50, make for the Pleasure Beach (and racecourse) at Great Yarmouth or the crabbing, funfair and zoo at Cromer, both top picks for seaside antics. Other eclectic options within accessible reach of Park Farm Camping include padding around Liz II’s pad at royal Sandringham and other old houses like Holkham Hall: both are around 45 minutes away. Norwich is 25 minutes from the site.
