Adventure play park
Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

This large campground offers spacious, well-kept sites with a focus on family activities, especially watersports. Visitors often praised the excellent location near amenities, helpful staff, and clean facilities, particularly the modern shower blocks. However, many reviews noted issues with toilet cleanliness, occasional noise, and some dated facilities. Despite these drawbacks, many found it good value and would return.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Ease of checking in and out, feast ice cream in shop...

Disliked No toilets on our field as they were out of order, water turned off to our field, noisy groups upto 11pm even though it says 9.30pm strict quiet time, no-one to police it, the toilets we had to use looked like they were never cleaned and replenished and were over crowded due to others out of order, emailed and never even had the decency to reply, it's a shame because it's a little goldmine if looked after...

Liked The camp is nice grass pitches are well maintained.
We were allocated in the side part of the camp and the showers and toilets after one day already were broken and closed. We have walk to the main camp facilities. Next to camp is not sure where an concert stage where are rave parties and the noise at night till 3 am is just unbearable.
We experienced that few times when we stayed in this camping. In June my husband stayed with my son and the toilet and shower had the same problem.
Anyway the camp is nice the staff is polite and helpful.

Disliked Broken toilet and shower after one day
Night noise

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Weather, fields were big and site was fairly quiet

Disliked Only 3 male toilets and some urinals for the whole campsite since the ones closest to us were out of order. Very expensive for the most basic tent pitch, £60 for 2 nights.

Liked Close to.where I needed to be for event on Sunday.

Disliked - Toilets and showers were disgusting. People were leaving them un-flushed, paper everywhere, urine on seats and around the floor. Showers were left muddy no way of cleaning after yourself.

- Noise, where we were told they enforced a 9:30pm quiet time, they did not. Children still running around and playing loudly after 10pm.

- Music on night of 12/13th July somewhere near city centre was so loud that I phoned the police twice only to be told that they couldn't spare officers. The noise was still going at 7am on 13!! Nobody slept.

- Electric sites need a very long cable to get to power and only told once we were driving up.
- Pot washing ran out of hot water.
Nobody on site to assist in anything.
