  • Large touring site in Warwickshire, with 20 acres of lakes
  • Twycross Zoo 10 minutes’ drive; National Space Centre 35 minutes
  • Lake beaches for sailing, paddleboarding, fishing and windsurfing
Want to spend your holidays lakeside – perhaps relaxing as you wait for fish to bite or honing your paddleboarding skills? You can do all this and more at Bosworth Lakeside Lodges, a family-oriented touring site spread over 50 acres in the Warwickshire countryside. There are 20 acres of lakes here, so you can get up to a wide range of watersports, from boating and kayaking to windsurfing, plus the above-mentioned paddleboarding and fishing. Taster sessions may be available if you fancy trying out something new. There are also colourful pedalos shaped like flamingos, swans and dragons, so you can cut a fine figure on the lake. Fishing in the pools is included for one person in the group (and under 14s go free), and additional adults can join for just a short fee per day. Back on dry land, you can relax on the sandy lake beaches or head to the site’s 12-hole crazy golf course with a nautical theme. For the kids, meanwhile, there's a fab adventure playground, with a dedicated section for youngsters under five. Several picnic and barbecue areas are available, with café and pub catering a mile to the east in the pleasant town of Market Bosworth (five minutes’ drive). Dogs are welcome at Bosworth Lakeside Lodges, but they need to be kept on leads at all times. Please note that this site only accepts family groups and couples aged over 25. On-site facilities include a dedicated toilet and shower block, washing-up facilities, Elsan disposal, fresh water and waste disposal. Calor and Campingaz bottles are available for exchange.

What customers say

This serene lakeside spot excels at water sports and wildlife. Spacious, often waterside pitches & friendly staff impress. Kids love the park, beach, & feeding tame ducks/fish. While clean, facilities are dated. Great for families & relaxing waterfront getaways.

Liked The views from the waterside pitch were incredible. The beach area and the facilities for the watersports were great, all the kids were swimming and playing in the water all day. The staff were so helpful and friendly. I absolutely loved this site for me and my family.

Liked The access to the water sports was great. We did paddle boarding, canoeing and went in one of the pedalos. But there were loads more on offer. They were reasonably priced as well. The beach was great for my son as well as he spent a good couple of hours making sandcastles. A fantastic facility to have when a drive to the sea side is a long way for us.

The staff were lovely and really friendly. They even gave my son some bread to feed the ducks. They were extremely helpful.

The pitches were a good size and very level. The shop was very handy. The play area was great and there was plenty of lovely open space.

Disliked The wasps! I’m totally aware we’re in nature but I have never experienced wasps on a site quite like this. We had to buy wasp spray from the shop as we struggled to eat outside without being overwhelmed by them. There must be some wasp nests that need addressing.

There was quite a bit of general litter. We reported the next door site after someone left it in a bit of a state and the warden (who was very friendly and helpful) came straight away to get the litter which is great. But I felt that there was just generally little bits of litter all over the site and there was definitely old litter embedded into the ground on our site like bottle caps, cable ties etc.

Also, I was disappointed that there was no recycling facilities. It stated on the bins that the waste is recycled after being put in the bin but having seen the JCB compressing the rubbish in the bin, this seems doubtful.

No wifi at our pitch.

Disliked The abolutions could do with a refresh as they are looking tired, but understandably used by it being a popular location

FHU gravel travel trailer campsite (waterside)

Liked Loved the lake and site
Very clean and tidy
Shops canny for little Nic naks

Disliked Toilets and showers were not the cleanest however this wasn’t for the love of trying the staff were seen trying to keep on top of it however there was sand all in the showers and floors weren’t clean after peoples use! Could possibly do with another shower block and some cleaning equipment for people to clean them there selves after use.

Drains were smelly on our service pitch we didn’t realised it was the drains til we were leaving so we didn’t bring it up to staff so it’s unfair to put the blame on them!

Could do with a restaurant on site although there are lovely places a drive away

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Love this place! It’s such a lovely campsite with great facilities and activities! Loved the unmarked grass pitches. Lovely owners and staff with it being family run and finally a great place that doesn’t rip you off left right and centre! It’s genuinely fairly priced for everything. Totally recommend!

Disliked Only disadvantage for us is maybe the showers could be more child friendly? The showers in the toilet / shower blocks are fixed up high so our little ones freaked out at shower times so was difficult to wash them down post sand and lake time. We did try using the disabled facilities shower as the door was open but the water was too cold for them and only trickled out. The women’s shower door was locked each time we tried it so must have been in use for a while.

Liked First time me and my partner have stayed here and the first time we have taken our new to us campervan so we were a little nieve subsequently we forgot to bring a hose pipe to fill up our water tank and it is policy that the site can't supply but the lovely chap in reception bent the rules slightly and let us use his.
The lake is great, we paddleboard and its great for few laps around you can soon tot up the kilometres.
That lovey man in reception let us stay on our pitch so we could get in a few more laps of the lake on our boards, then let's us park the van there for a while so we could go to the village pub for some lunch.
All in all very good and I would recommend.

Disliked No recycling and the massive dustbin was overflowing and smelt terrible.

Local attractions

Twycross Zoo (10 minutes’ drive) is home to almost 100 different species of animals, with a special focus on primates – from great apes like gorillas and orangutans, to monkeys – plus lemurs and meerkats. Younger children might like the immersive touch-and-feel activities in the Gruffalo Discovery Land. The kids may not be in school, but there are real-life history lessons at the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (10 minutes). Here you can take a guided walk around the fields where the 1485 battle took place, learn about the War of the Roses and discover how King Richard III lost his life in the fray. There are also children’s hunts and talks. Leave the past behind and zoom ahead to the future (or at least into space) at Leicester’s National Space Centre (35 minutes). You can experience what it’s like inside the International Space Station, see a sample of moon rock and learn about the universe in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium.
