Liked Stayed here with my family during the summer and had a fantastic time. Great for paddleboarding and exploring the islands in the centre of the lake with the children.

We will definitely return again.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Took our 2 grandsons aged 9 & 10 for a weekend away, we were fortunate with the weather so they were able to take full advantage of the facilities and had a whale of a time; they're happy so we're happy!
As an adult however, I was disappointed with the condition of the toilet/shower block which is in dire need of a refurb; though relatively clean locks on doors were broken, shower cubicle doors had seals hanging off, the showers are the irritating push button type that only flow for about 10 seconds so need to be constantly pressed.
As to whether or not I would return or recommend to a friend that would depend; if the grandsons wanted to return then yes I would, but without them as an adult I don't think I could tolerate the toilet/shower block again.

Disliked Toilet/shower block.

Liked Nice tidy quiet site, stuff to do on the lake, and it’s beautiful.
Some bad reviews about the toilets put us off but they were fine. Ladies were clean and tidy, mens showers a bit grotty but overall fine.

Local attractions

Twycross Zoo (10 minutes’ drive) is home to almost 100 different species of animals, with a special focus on primates – from great apes like gorillas and orangutans, to monkeys – plus lemurs and meerkats. Younger children might like the immersive touch-and-feel activities in the Gruffalo Discovery Land. The kids may not be in school, but there are real-life history lessons at the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (10 minutes). Here you can take a guided walk around the fields where the 1485 battle took place, learn about the War of the Roses and discover how King Richard III lost his life in the fray. There are also children’s hunts and talks. Leave the past behind and zoom ahead to the future (or at least into space) at Leicester’s National Space Centre (35 minutes). You can experience what it’s like inside the International Space Station, see a sample of moon rock and learn about the universe in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium.
