  • Spacious pitches at a family-run farm in rural Bedfordshire
  • Grafham Water and St Neots 15 minutes' drive away
  • Well-stocked village shop and off-licence on site; pub a mile away
Grab yourselves a break that covers two counties with a stay at Top End Farm, on the border of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. In the village of Little Staughton, this family-run farm stretches over 11 acres, so lovely country views are standard. The pitches are spread across two fields, making plenty of space for all guests to set their kit up and relax. Facilities have been very well thought out too, particularly the two heated toilets and shower blocks (with large shower cubicles, hair dryers, shaver points and an accessible wet room) and the kitchen area, which has a food prep area, a freezer and two large sinks. There’s a play area to keep the kids busy too. Sorting food to prep is a doddle, as the site has firepits that can be hired for an additional fee. The farm is also home to the village shop and off-licence, which stocks local veg and fresh bread along with meats for the barbecue. For a more extensive stock-up, there are supermarkets in St Neots, 15 minutes’ drive away. And if you don’t feel like cooking? The folk on site can provide you with details of various takeaways that deliver to the site, or the village pub is a little over a mile away. The farm also has an information hut with all manner of local info on places to go and things to do – activities nearby include fishing, golf, various aqua parks and bike rides, or days out at the Shuttleworth Collection, Woburn Safari Park and Wyboston Lakes.

Liked: Good flat pitches. Shop is convenient and well stocked. Play area is nice and the kids had fun.

I don't want to put it as a dislike because the toilets were clean and absolutely fine. But for the size of the site they could use a couple more blocks at opposite ends of the fields.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, with regards to the toilets they are in one area due to drainage, we havent had problems with people waiting to use the facilities

Liked: how familiar it all still is, most people on site are nice and chatty, on site store is convenient, Toilets are always clean.

Disliked: Not the camp site’s fault but one of the neighbors by our pitch was being a little inappropriate and at one point had no clothes on! but it got dealt with appropriately/effective

Liked: We enjoyed the peace on site and everything was close by , we felt comfortable to let the kids go over to the toilets without coming into harm as the campsite felt safe

Disliked: The pitches were far too close together.
It was the school holiday out children are all teens and one night we were told to be quiet. Now it was gone 11 yes but we were playing a board game in our tent , not being rude or disrespectful or singing or playing loud music.
If we had been a little more spaced out I feel we wouldn’t have had this.
This happened on night 2 of our holiday and put some dampener on our holiday.

From the manager: Thank you for your review we are pleased that you felt comfortable on site
We apologise for the late reply but have been trying to find out who told you to be quiet, we have checked with all our staff both shop and wardens and noone asked anyone to be quiet whilst playing board games and we wouldnt expect you to be quiet whilst in your own tent playing with your family., this must have been another family onsite and we are sorry you experienced this, if you decided to come to us again and anything like this happened again we would ask if you do contact our wardens to let them know they would be able to have a word
The pitches are camping and caravan regulated to size

Primitive cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked: Lovely countryside campsite. Plentiful clean facilities, well stocked shop, and a very safe site. There was lots of open space for the kids to roam - despite the site being sold out for the bank holiday weekend. The kids really enjoyed the playground and ramp too. Fire pit hire was a nice bonus.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike at all. It doesn't do frills (e.g. food vans, activity rooms, and so on) but that suited us just fine. Couldn't get the WiFi working though.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review,
We dont have take away vans on site, however we do have takeaways that delvier to site if you wish
Any problems with the wifi please report and we maybe able to get working as we do have a good connection on site

Liked: Nice level, sheltered site, with plenty of open space. Great facilities, good well stocked farm shop on site. Toilets & showers were always clean & were seen being cleaned regularly. Wardens were great, asking people to switch off their music when it was past curfew. Indoor washing up area was a bonus. Great location for exploring both Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire.

Disliked: The only slight issue we had was that we could only find one drinking water tap, located by the toilet/shower block (this may have been our error)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review glad you enjoyed your stay
all our taps are drinking water, there are 13 points dotted around the site, if you come again please let us know and we will show you where they are located

Liked: My husband and I stayed in a pitch with an electric hookup. On arrival we were greeted, given information such as WiFi check out time and shown where to go. We were allocated a specific plot. There are two heated shower blocks and toilets both were very clean. A kitchen for washing up and a freezer for storing food. If you have children there is a play area with a variety of play equipment plus open fields to play. There is a shop onsite we didn't visit but useful if need to buy essentials. The staff onsite are very friendly and helpful. We did go when it was very busy but it was also nice to be with other families who were enjoying their bank holiday weekend.

Disliked: The pitches are very close together so have to be extra mindful of neighbours. But again busy weekend and a bustling site so to be expected.

From the manager: Thank you for your review we are glad you enjoyed your stay
The Electric pitches are marked out to correct standards, sorry if you felt it was a little close.
The pitches without electric have lots of room if you consider that
Also if you do have a large tent (not sure if you do) just make us aware next time and we can always put you on a end pitch or in the paddock if two adults traveling together without children

Local attractions

Keen to try something that will get everyone involved and perhaps raise the competitive spirit? There are a few places nearby for that. Head to Colmworth Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive) for some putting action, or Sporting Targets (20 minutes) to discover which clay pigeon shooter among you has the greatest aim. At Southlake Waterpark (15 minutes), you can try different watersports, including paddleboarding, waterskiing and wakeboarding. Grafham Water (15 minutes) is a little more laidback, with activities such as fishing, sailing and peaceful bicycle rides. Like animals of all shapes and sizes? For wildlife watching, head to one of these three: Woburn Safari Park (35 minutes), Herrings Green Activity Farm & Bird of Prey Centre (half an hour) and the Paxton Pits Nature Reserve (15 minutes). For a day of general pottering, St Ives (half an hour) should do the trick, with its pretty town centre, riverside walks and indie shops. Shuttleworth Collection & Gardens (20 minutes) has a short woodland trail and a vintage aircraft collection, making it a nice contender for slow-paced days out too.
