Pitches

  • Small, peaceful Creuse site five minutes' drive from Soubrebost
  • Lac de Vassivière and Aubusson just over a half-hour drive away
  • Communal barn with kitchen facilities, games and honesty fridges
This is a lovely corner of the Creuse, tucked away among forests and traditional villages, and with lots of hiking trails and other outdoor activities close by. Camping Les Quatre Saisons is up at the most northerly end of the Millevaches en Limousin Regional Natural Park about five minutes’ drive from the little village of Soubrebost – a gorgeous spot for a peaceful break with friends or family (dogs included). This site has been designed to make the most of the attractive natural setting – paths and pitches have been mown into the natural grass to provide a comfortable and easy place to set up camp, while other parts of the fields have been left natural for a sense of privacy and a place for wildlife to thrive. Where you choose to pitch up is up to you – there’s one large open field here for peaceful stays, and two smaller fields that both have play areas and are therefore well suited to families with kids. Other facilities around the site include a games room (with table football, table tennis, darts and toys for younger children), a communal firepit and an indoor seating area for damp days. Practical facilities have been nicely thought out as well – the communal barn area has kitchen facilities (including a kettle, coffee maker and microwave), an honesty fridge for cool drinks and a washing machine and tumble dryer. The site also has toilets, showers, wifi and a barbecue area.

Powered grass site

Liked Top of the like list are the owners, a beautiful young family who are achieving their dream, which is reflected in the site and the work they themselves have put in this year to bring this place back to life once again.
You won't meet a more friendly couple, always there to help or just chat. They themselves live on site in the beautiful old house so are never too far away, just ring the bell if you can't find them.

A well established environment that has a spacious feeling and plenty of character. Select a shaded pitch or a place in the sun, you decide (space allowing of course).
Seating areas dotted around including a fire pit, paths through the long grassed areas and woods to ramble through.
The sanitary area is absolutely spotless, modern and well stocked with toilet paper, hand towels and hand wash. Powerful showers, hot water at all basins including clothes washing area.
There's a small selection of foods and drinks available on site, a play area and a games room.
You'll be situated in the peaceful countryside setting, which means zero road noise. Even so, phone signal is great and streaming isn't a problem, I believe there is WiFi available by the communal area.

I had initially booked for one night but as soon as I stepped of my motorbike I was greeted with a smile. After chatting to the family for some time and then pitching my tent, I decided to stay another night.
Not many places give me 'the vibe' but this spot has the welcoming peaceful atmosphere we search for when camping.

Added to my favourites so hopefully I'll be back.

Thank you to the family, keep your dream alive and thank you for sharing.

Disliked Leaving.... obviously.
Having itchy feet and having to keep moving, could have stayed for days.

Local attractions

The green hills and forests you’ll see from the site give you a hint that there are lots of lovely walks and other outdoor activities around here. If you fancy a walk, that could be anything from a gentle stroll in the woods to a longer hike on the GR4 path, which passes very close to the site. You could also try a ride on the Vélo-Rail de La Mine (15 minutes’ drive) or head to Lac de Vassivière (35 minutes) for beach time, swimming and watersports at one of the largest lakes in France. For a change of scenery, head to Aubusson (35 minutes) for some town time. It’s particularly well known for its carpet and tapestry production, showcased in the works of art at Musée Départemental de la Tapisserie d’Aubusson, but it’s also got some lovely cobbled streets to stroll through and attractive buildings to visit – plus a pool complex with a waterslide, sauna and hammam. For another lovely town to visit, try Felletin (45 minutes) – it’s particularly good on a Friday, when the market stalls are filled with interesting crafts, local cheeses and other produce.
