  • Family-friendly park just outside Charmouth on the Jurassic Coast
  • Pools, play areas and indoor play
  • Modern amenities including hot showers and a launderette
There’s nothing fossilised about a stay at Newlands Holiday Park, a stone’s throw away from the Jurassic Coast on the Devon/Dorset border, where the staff and facilities should cater to your every holiday need. For example, this lush place has two separate play areas for the mini guests. There's also an indoor heated pool – and an outdoor one with loungers so you can bask in the sun and wonder where the kids get all that energy… More? There's an indoor soft play area. Also use family-run Newlands as a base for a Lyme Regis fossil-hunting holiday or just lounge about on site; either way, epic times are on the cards. The 23-acre landscaped park has all the facilities you’d expect from a thoroughly modern site: internet access and clean up-to-date amenities including hot showers and a launderette. Half a mile from Newlands, the World Heritage village of Charmouth has shops, restaurants and pubs… and is also known for its hardy souls taking to the sea in fancy dress on Christmas Day.

What customers say

A top family spot near Charmouth & Lyme Regis. Reviews love the clean loos, roomy pitches & helpful staff. Kids rave about the pools & play zones. Mostly brilliant, but a few noted road noise and busy periods.

Liked Lovely views, really well laid out and spacious, facilities are great, especially for kids - playparks, softplay, indoor and outdoor pool (outside is very chilly, though good for an ice dip if you've been in the Sauna) clean facilities, dog park, good food options served all day (pizza and Panini's in-between breakfast and dinner service) evening entertainment in peak season, which we just missed, but just hopped on the bus to Bridport for an evening out. All in all loved it and will be back!

Liked Stunning views, good location with bus stop outside for Lyme Regis and Weymouth, had a good pitch with everything to hand . Very enjoyable stay.

Disliked Pitches for grass are mainly on a slope some are very steep, luckily mine wasn't. Would book a hard standing pitch next time.I think the toilet/shower block would benefit from a deep steam clean and reseal around some areas.

Liked Well laid out site with decent pitches.
Nice clubhouse/bar area with friendly staff and the food looked great. Unfortunately wasn't there long enough to try it !

Disliked Bar was absolutely packed out as BINGO was still on past 9pm on Friday night. Struggled to get a seat as we arrived late.
Entertainment could do with a upgrade.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Lovely campsite, friendly staff.
Kids loved the indoor pool, Softplay area and spent most of their time at the park.
Shower/toilet block was good. 20 minute walk to Charmouth beach. Dog friendly in conservatory area and the roast was lovely.

Disliked Some pitches are on a slight hill, but can't be helped.
Toilet block became dirty as the day went on.
Partner said the water pressure wasn't great in the male shower block.

Camping pod

Liked We liked the cosy, clean and comfortable camping pod, the views across the bay and hills, the park's quiet and easy going atmosphere, and facilities.

Disliked Not much to dislike - having to pay extra for the pool was a bit annoying, and it is not really a 'short stroll' to the beach as advertised. It took us about half an hour from our pitch.

Local attractions

Charmouth is the gateway to the Jurassic Coast and has some of the best fossils to be found in Dorset: the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre has fossil collections and guided fossil walks and is where you can proudly bring in your very own fossil find to be identified. The beach is a 15-minute walk from Newlands: stroll from here to Lyme Regis keeping your head down for more fossily finds, then wander around Lyme to take a look at Cobb Harbour (made famous in Jane Austen’s Persuasion); buy freshly ground flour at the 14th-century watermill; amble along to at the ammonites, exhibitions and events at the museum, or tee off on the cliff at Lyme Regis Golf Club. Mini fossil-hunters will likely be monster fans of the award-winning Dinosaur Museum at Dorchester, and taking a detour while in town to the Teddy Bear Museum. If they’re watery types, they’ll have a whale of a time at the Splashdown Water Park in Poole and the walk-through underwater tunnel at the Bournemouth Oceanarium. Closer to Newlands and Dino Dan, families can see zebras and meerkats at the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, trundle along on the Seaton Tramway for a scenic trip through the estuary of the River Axe, or feed a shoal of fish at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium.
