  • Friendly West Sussex campsite with handy indoor space
  • A 10-minute drive from Selsey and Chichester
  • Indoor 'beach' area with sandpit, books and games
Find your new happy place at Creative Camping, an aptly named campsite close to the West Sussex coastline. Located midway between Selsey on the coast and the historic city of Chichester, this laidback spot is a top pick for families and friends looking for a getaway somewhere just that little bit different. As well as the well-maintained pitches and green outdoor area, Creative Camping has a spacious indoor area for guests to enjoy. Come and relax on the indoor 'beach', sit back on one of the comfy chairs, let the kids play in the sandpit or take your pick of the games and books on offer. The indoor space also has a lounge and dining area, a kitchen with sinks, two toilets, two showers, a changing room and a baby changing table. When you spend time outside, you'll appreciate the site's quiet location away from the road and the natural feel of the place – sit back and relax and it's quite likely that you'll see birds of prey flying overhead. Dogs are welcome here and there's easy access to footpaths in the local area for their walks. The sensible use of open fires and barbecues is allowed, and guests can make use of the site's big barbecue and pizza oven. Handily, Sidlesham village centre, where there is a pub, is about a quarter of a mile away to the north.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked: Great welcome by Kym. The site is well set up with access to borrowing tables, fire pits, bbqs etc.
Would thoroughly recommend for a few nights away. Only 14 pitches which ensures no over crowding or noise. A brilliant site, easy access to Selsey & local areas for shops, beaches & walks.

Liked: Fantastic stay at Creative Camping. We only booked for 2 nights bit received a warm welcome from Kym. Pitches were great condition, facilities excellent including lovely clean hot showers and indoor washing up. Convenient shop and garage next door.

We didn't need the crafts or indoor play area as have older kids and a caravan, bit for those with younger kids and those camping this would be a godsend for a rainy day, with a dry place to relax with a cup of tea.

Out 10 and 11 year olds had a blast riding the tandem bike, go karts, scooters and trolleys - something for kids of all ages (and adults who are young at heart).

The site had a warm and friendly atmosphere which we really liked.

Disliked: Despite directions the entrance was difficult to spit and we drove past it twice before we found it so we recommend finding it on Google street view before attempting with a caravan.

Liked: Everything. This site is great for children, the location is good, the site was always clean, the extras like the indoor sandpit and outdoor toys are a great addition, the additional activites that you can pay for are well worth it and if you don't enquire you really do miss the magic inside the greenhouse. The log and kindling package are value for money. We will be returning.

Disliked: Nothing about the site but other parents if you do visit please ensure you put the toys back and watch what your children are doing.

Local attractions

There are all sorts of coastal corners you'll want to explore while in West Sussex, from the wildlife haven wetlands of RSPB Pagham Harbour (five minutes' drive) to the cheerful seafront at Selsey (10 minutes) or the sandy stretches of West Wittering (15 minutes). Slightly further afield, it's easy to get to other maritime spots, whether you fancy a day trip to the seaside resort and pleasure harbour at Littlehampton (30 minutes) or want to walk around the historic dockyards of Portsmouth (30 minutes). Jaunts to the bright lights and vintage shops of Brighton (an hour and 10 minutes) are also on the cards if you fancy a really special day out. There's also much to see and do inland locally, with many of the prettiest parts of the South Downs National Park just a short drive away. While you're in the area, make sure to check out pretty historic country estates like Arundel Castle (25 minutes), and if ancient history's your thing you can make tracks for the mosaics and columns of Fishbourne Roman Palace (15 minutes).
