What customers say
Fab riverside spot, super peaceful with great views & walks. Portaloos spotless! Owner Liz is a legend, really friendly & helpful. Basic facilities (no showers) but brilliant value. A bit of a trek to loos from some spots & farm noise can happen. Highly recommend for its beauty & warm welcome.

Lovely, back to basics site in stunning location with great owner.
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Beautiful scenery, spacious pitches, friendly and helpful owner, clean toilets. This was my second stay here and I'll definitely be booking again next year. Liz is very friendly but also makes sure the rules are in place about it being a quiet site - much appreciated by those of us who stay there for just that reason!

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked I loved sleeping next to the river Esk, it was very peaceful and I've never slept so good camping :)
The campsite has a small trail which follows the river, and a place to sit by the rivers edge with beautiful views.
Very friendly working family, great prices for off grid camping with clean "honey buckets" :)
Disliked Having hardly any signal, however the peace from my phone was nice :)

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Very quiet campsite as we chose a field away from the main one and there was plenty of space even on Bank holiday weekend in good weather. Was excellent for a one night stay, lots of flat pitches. The host was really nice and guided us, giving us lots of freedom of choice.
Disliked Porta loo's weren't great although the lady does try her best to keep them clean. A shower block would be amazing. We ended up having a swim in Wast water after a sweaty hike which just about did the trick but with no pot washing facilities so I think multiple nights would have been difficult

From the manager: Sorry to read about the porta loos my Porta loo company let me down with an extra toilet I did my best to keep them clean on a busy hot bank holiday I take pride in my porta loos I’ve never had a negative comment in the six years I’ve been running my campsite I wished you had come over to see me
the spare field was busier then the main pitch up campsite
Sorry I couldn’t give you a 10/10 experience
Liz
