Well-maintained amenities, bike storage and barbecue/firepit hire

No ifs and no butts, this is a smashing little site. Butt Farm Caravan and Campsite is a small farm site a couple of miles from the old town of Beverley, in an excellent setting to use as a base for days out around East Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Wolds, the Yorkshire coast, York and Hull. The working family-run farm is set on a footpath and cycle network, so it's easy to get straight out into the surrounding countryside. It also has wide open views of the East Yorkshire countryside. Owners Jen and Oly have set up plenty of nice facilities like barbecue and firepit hire, secure bike storage, recycling facilities and an undercover utility room with sinks and hot water for washing up. Butt Farm Caravan and Campsite also has heated ladies' and gents' washrooms and showers, in a modern amenities block converted from old farm buildings and fuelled by a renewable biomass boiler. Electric shaver points are also available. For supplies, Beverley is less than 10 minutes away by car, or you could take a bus from the stop a short stroll from the site (or cycle: one of the surrounding paths leads straight into town). A supermarket with a petrol station is less than a mile away, and takeaways, pubs and restaurants are all within two miles.

Showman's Retreat gypsy caravan (four person)

Liked: Gorgeous site. Around 40 pitches so nice and quiet. We stayed in the Showman’s Retreat, comfortable beds. Jen was lovely and welcoming, offered local recommendations which were great. Dog friendly site. Recycling facilities are great. Clean bathrooms. Friendly animals on site. Kitchen facilities are great. Being able to hire a BBQ & fire pit saves lots of space in the car. Hot water bottles were a lovely touch. Thank you for a beautiful stay! We will be returning next year.

Disliked: My daughter said the only thing that could make the stay even better would be if there was a climbing frame / some swings.

Liked: Très charmant camping au calme en retrait de la ville. Les sanitaires sont propres et bien entretenus et bien chauffé avec une petite musique d'ambiance.

Disliked: Attention à l'accès très étroit où deux véhicules ne peuvent pas se croiser sur plusieurs centaines de mètres.
Il y a pas de wifi à ma connaissance.

Toilets and showers always clean, had radio on 24/7 which was was a nice touch.
Had fridge, freezer washing up area which was very handy.
Big pitches lots of space and close to shops at the end of the road.
Close to the town centre which you could walk to but easy enough to drive and park up.

Unpowered concrete and grass caravan site

Liked: Level(ish) pitch with water. Good, clean toilets and showers. Our non-electric pitch was open without trees near it which is good for solar! Quiet as site is surrounded by fields.

Friendly owners, there were eggs available to buy. Equipment for barbeques as well as information about local area.

As others have noted it's about 10 minute walk to Morrisons (McDonald's, B&M and Halfords as well). A longer 45 minute walk into town along or you can get a bus from near Morrisons.

Easy (signed) access from main road, the last bit into farm is single track but shouldn't be a problem for even the largest unit.

Local attractions

Get hither to the Yorkshire coast, the Yorkshire countryside, the Yorkshire Wolds, cities like York and Lincoln, or to venture further afield via the P&O ferry port at Hull 10 miles away. But to Beverley first... it's a bit of a beaut, with cobbled streets and a magnif minster, piles of old buildings, markets and music fests, and the chance to see geegees at Beverley Racecourse. Market days are on Wednesdays and Saturdays: if you're off to buy some bits, have a tipple afterwards in one of Beverley's 40 or so pubs. (One, the Sun Inn, dates back to the 16th century... just so you know...) You can also get to Hull city centre within eight miles, Humber Bridge in nine, Driffield in 15 and the seaside town of Bridlington in 25. A bit further away but within a decent distance for day trips are York (30 miles), Lincoln (50 miles) and Leeds, 60 miles from Butt Farm.
