- Friendly site surrounded by spectacular Pefki beach
- Ruins, caves, watersports and famed taverna all nearby
- Set over five and a half hectares of peaceful shaded space
Camping Pefki is surrounded by the spectacular scenery of Pefki beach, the biggest beach in northern Evia and a major destination for holidaymakers to the region. It has four and a half kilometres of sand and pebbles, clear waters just across the Pagasitikos gulf, and a background scene of the Magnesia Mountains, blazing with orange when the sun goes down.
Established in 1985, Camping Pefki covers over five and a half hectares, full of trees to provide shade to guests and accommodation areas.
The amenities include fully-renovated bathrooms with hot running water. Cooking facilities and refrigerators are also available. There's also a mini market with all the essentials such as coffee, juices, soft drinks, and fresh bread and pastries on a daily basis .
A taverna and a kitesurfing school are within 200 metres. Pefki village is about a kilometre away for coffee, drinks and the indispensable traditional kafeneia, where you can sit and have a raki with the locals.
Also in Pefki is one of the most famous tavernas in the area, the Piperia (Pepper Plant); if you're on holiday nearby one of the locals will at some point recommend it as another good reason to go to Pefki. The Camping Pefki tream recommends the omelette with staka cheese, taken in with the tavern's spectacular view.
In Pefki village there are no facilities such as cashpoints, banks or a post office, so don’t forget to bring money with you. There is, however, a petrol station to top up your car on the road from Makry Gialos to Pefki.

Local attractions
A Late Minoan building has been discovered in the Kastelopoulo area of Pefki, thought to have been a beacon or some kind of watchtower.
Some caves in the wider area bear witness to human presence here from Neolithic times. You can see some of these traces in Apoloustres Cave and Vreikou Cave, five kliometres from Pefki. In Apoloustres, some 20th-century visitors found coins which, when cleaned, revealed the name of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
Although the main sight in Pefki is definitely Pefki Gorge, it’s worth spending some time in the village, wandering through the narrow streets and enjoying the peace, simplicity and atmosphere of the place. Especially if you’ve come from a noisy resort, the peace and quiet of Pefki will feel blissful.
Pefki has its own folk museum, housed in the village primary school. Here you can see everyday objects used by Cretans in the past, such as looms, grape presses, pithos jars, tools, spinning wheel and oil lamps, all donated to tuseum by inhabitants of Pefki.
There is a quiet and serived beach in front of Camping Pefki, great for windsurfing and kitesurfing. You can also visit the Nautilos Museum, Pyrgos Drosini, Gouves, World War II forts, the Osios David Monastery, Agios Ioannis o Rossos, Osia Eirini Chrysovalantou and Panagia Ntinious.
For spectacular mountain walks you have the waterfalls of Drimona and Milion, Mount Telethrio and Nileas Canyon. There's also Kamatriades for horse riding, pretty villages to explore and of course the petrified forest.
