  • A 10-minute drive from Montespertoli and half an hour from Certaldo
  • Outdoor swimming pool, bar-restaurant and play area on site
Surrounded by gorgeous Tuscany countryside, Agricampeggio Cipollatico is a peaceful spot where relaxing should come naturally. Within easy reach of the medieval villages, hills and vineyards of Chianti, it has an outdoor swimming pool with a scattering of deckchairs and umbrellas for scenic daily dips. This dog-friendly site is in a quiet spot, 10 minutes’ drive from the medieval town of Montespertoli and half an hour from hilltop Certaldo. Romantic Italian cities also within driving distance include Florence (it’s half an hour’s drive to Piazzale Michelangelo and 40 minutes to the city centre) and Siena (an hour). Agricampeggio Cipollatico has a bar and restaurant where guests can tuck into typical Tuscan dishes, either cosied up indoors or at the outdoor tables in the garden. If you’d like to take a sample of Tuscan tastes back home with you, the site also sells homemade produce including wine, pasta and olive oil, as well as local jams and honey. On-site amenities include toilets and showers, a launderette and washing-up area. Families can also take their kids to the dedicated play area to let off steam. If you fancy the idea of exploring the Tuscan hills by bus, the site is only 100 metres from the nearest bus stop.

Local attractions

There are plenty of bucket-list Tuscan sights within striking distance of Agricampeggio Cipollatico. You can be in Florence’s spectacular Piazzale Michelangelo, with its views over the historic city, within half an hour by car, then spend the day touring splendid art galleries including the Uffizi and Academia, admiring the Duomo and strolling among the statuary in the Boboli Gardens. Another big-hitter on the sightseeing trail is Siena (an hour), with its renowned, shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, Gothic-style Palazzo Pubblico and monumental black-and-white striped cathedral. The scenic hilltop town of Certaldo (half an hour) is a photogenic maze of medieval alleys overlooked by a vast castle, while the village of Anchiano (40 minutes) was birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci; you can see his artwork and designs in the Museo Leonardiano di Vinci at Vinci (35 minutes). Undeservedly a little off the tourist trail, Empoli (20 minutes) repays a visit with informative displays on the local tradition of glassmaking at the Museo del Vetro (MUVE) – and afterwards you can enjoy a glass of something chilled in a Piazza della Vittoria café.
