Well maintained campsite

  • Spacious and peaceful site with sea views in north Wales
  • A 10-minute drive from Talacre beach and 20 minutes from Rhyl
  • Within an hour's drive of ski centre, Surf Snowdonia and Zip World
Whopping big fields and phenomenal views in Flintshire? Whoop a big yes please to Ynyshir Farm, a small but supremely spacious site with sea vistas, 10 minutes’ drive from Talacre on the north Wales coast. Look one way towards the Dee Estuary and the Irish Sea; look the other and it’s all green fields giving way to hills and the mountains of Snowdonia beyond… this really is a cracking spot. Being on a former farm, there’s bags of space to stretch out and run about… or stretch out and do nothing, except watching the clouds scudding across the sky or the sun setting over the waves… Firepits are available to hire for outdoor cookouts and late-night natters: bring the dog along to sit around the fire too, as they'll be made most welcome on site. They’re welcome too on Talacre beach 10 minutes’ drive away, where shifting dunes, wide sands and a 17th-century lighthouse make a mighty good introduction to the area. If you like a livelier seaside experience, then Rhyl, with its amusements and aquarium, miniature railway and botanical gardens is 20 minutes away.

What customers say

Highly recommended, well-kept campsite with amazing views & roomy pitches. Clean, modern facilities are praised. Peaceful, family-friendly, close to beaches. Mostly excellent, though some found it pricey with occasional noise or staff shortages during busy times.

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a great stay at Ynyshir Farm Campsite! The location is perfect for walkers and cyclists – just a lovely walk to Talacre Beach and plenty of fantastic coastal cycle routes leading to Ffrith Beach, Prestatyn, Rhyl, and beyond.

The facilities were excellent, with toilets kept very clean throughout our stay. Communication with the owners was easy and straightforward, and the campsite itself is great value for money.

A couple of tips for future visitors: there are pubs nearby, but many didn’t serve food, and we found places around Talacre Beach closed by 8pm, so it’s best to bring your own supplies as we didn’t see shops nearby. That said, catching the sunset on the beach made up for it – absolutely stunning!

We stayed over the August Bank Holiday weekend and had a sea-view pitch, we’ll definitely be back. A really enjoyable stay in a lovely site that allows fire pits.

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Just a fantastic site. The location is great with fantastic views. Close to Prestatyn for shops, close to Talacre beach. The fields are super well maintained with excellent drainage so now swampy pitches. Toilet block is very nice with excellent showers and theyre very clean. Paul is super helpful.

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked 1. Views over looking the sea are beautiful.
2. All facilities are located within a Modern shower/ toilet block.
3. Quick check in, via a simple phone call upon arrival.
4. Location close to beautiful beach and big town for shops only 10 mins drive away.
5. Well lit walkway to the toilet block for nighttime.

Disliked 1. In our opinion there is Insufficient number of toilets resulting ques throughout the day. 3 of the 5 toilets are within shower rooms which therefore can't be used when showers are in use. These are the only toilets for the three field campsite.
2. Replenishment of toilet paper was insufficient at times resulting in no toilet paper in any of the toilets.
3. No permanent staff on site therefore it can take some time to respond to issues. Also we found texts regarding issues went unanswered (although issues where resolved, would of appreciated a response, however understand may not be able to reply to all)
4. Signage could be improved. When you first approach site, If coming from Liverpool way the site sign is only visible when you are almost passed the entrance. Could do with one on the other side for visibility. Also no sign for where the washing up facilities are so need to explore to find them as they are tucked away at the back of the toilet and shower rooms.
5. No bins in toilets therefore toilet roll tubes and rubbish are left on the floor untill next clean.
6. No Sinks outside of the toilets. If wanting to brush teeth only you have either take up one of the toilets or use the washing up sinks. which lead to further ques.
7. Noise curfew advertised as 9.30, but not inforced due to no staff presents. One permanent caravan was playing karaoke load untill passed 10.30 and we had to take it upon ourselves to ask them to turn it down as could be heard in the far field.

Primitive grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked The view was very good and the place was quite.

Disliked This is the 3rd time I had been to this site. However, I was very disappointed about the toilet cleanliness this time. All the toilets were awful and disgusting. People seems like uneducated that they did not flush the toilet after using it. I only saw once the staff trying to mopping up the toilet floor, but none of the staff clean the bathroom and toilets at all. They all stains! Sorry, I don't think I would come here again

From the manager: Firstly, may I suggest that you ask someone with an understanding of the English Language to write your reviews in future.

The shower facilities are cleaned 6 times a day. I know this as I am the one doing it. Unfortunately, I can't be held responsible for campers lack of respect for both the facilities and fellow campers.

Thank you for an amazing weekend.

Liked The view, the immaculate grounds, facilities & management.

When trying to book we had problems with the booking website. We rang the number provided and our problem was resolved quickly & cheerfully.

Our stay was exactly what we had hoped for & more. The facilities, the cleanliness of the whole site & very well maintained camping fields.

Thank you Ynyshir- we will be seeing you very soon & have already recommended the site to family & friends.

Local attractions

Forever being invaded and defended, it’s castle country round here: 12th-century Denbigh Castle (20 minutes' drive) is at the ghostly ruin end of the scale, while mighty Conwy (40 minutes) looks like it’s still ready to see off a rebel army. If you’re into active stuff, try whizzing down the slopes of Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre (40 minutes), riding the waves on Surf Snowdonia’s ingeniously choppy practice lake (50 minutes), or whizzing at great height and velocity down the wires at Zip World Fforest and Penrhyn Quarry, both an hour away. Brought your walking boots? There’s an easy but rewarding trail to the waterfall at Dyserth,10 minutes away; for longer wanders in Snowdonia National Park, it’s an hour’s journey to the start of trails up Carnedd Llewelyn and to Aber Falls. (If you want the heights without straining the hooves, loaf over to Llanberis, an hour away and take the Snowdon Mountain Railway to the top of Wales’ highest peak; you could always walk back down…) If you like a bit of wildlife with your walks, trips up and around the Great Orme headland just above Llandudno (40 minutes) are often likely to be accompanied by sightings of sea birds and even seagoing porpoises. If you want to meet some more exotic beasts close up, it’s a similar distance to the sea lions, sea eagles and Sumatran tigers of the Welsh Mountain Zoo.
