What customers say

Litton Lakes gets props for its stunning locale, welcoming staff, and roomy sites. The lake's a big draw for swimming & paddleboarding, with the cafe & local pub also a hit. Facilities are mostly clean, though some found water pressure low & toilet blocks dimly lit. While many dig the chill vibe, some felt it was too crowded/loud, especially with big groups. Most agree that updating washrooms would be a definite plus.

Disliked Water Pressure in showers not the best. Entrance in lake is very slippery , would be good some water shoes

Liked The lake was a great attraction at the park, everyone had so much fun paddle boarding on the water.

Disliked The showers, very poor water pressure. People shouting to others to turn of taps ect.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked *Friendly staff at check in
*Large pitches
*Beautiful views
*Huge open field for the kids to play
*Amazing paddleboarding/swimming lake which kept our kids entertained for hours
*Clean grounds
*Dog walking field

Disliked *The toilets nearest to the lake weren't very clean and sadly didn't smell great at all. No soap in dispensers on several visits. Yes we could have phoned the warden and reported it, but to be honest we had expected the toilets to have been cleaned regularly and that this would have been sorted.
* Most non electric pitch campsites we've visited recently have a shared fridge and or freezer. This would be a great addition at Litton Lakes.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Chill campsite,
Generous pitch size,
Friendly,
Natural,
Sustainable.
Beautiful area and lake.

Disliked FYI - water pressure is low for showers and hand washing. Not a negative, it’s ties in with sustainability and the solar power.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Loved The lake (of course and especially in the peace and quiet early in the morning before 9.30 when the day visitors arrive en masse and after 6 when most have gone home), the darkness and the stars at night, the peaceful countryside surroundings, the easy footpath to the pub, the ecofriendly off grid ethos, kids loved the tractor to climb on, felt safe and child friendly

Disliked The campsite was much bigger and busier than I expected from the website and pitches packed in close, which detracted from the peaceful quiet getaway I was anticipating, felt like at least double the size, there was often a (short) queue for the shower or toilet and the hot water was flaky and intermittent, with no temperature control

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The Lake - while busy nearer the cafe there were quieter spots on the opposite side.
Local walks & pubs nearby
Location to local towns / beaches
Cafe on site, but prices put us off using but a nice to have if needed

Disliked The water pressure, the lack of meant the showers only worked if one person used them at a time (7 odd available) and no one uses the taps. Major problem when you need a shower post Lake swim. I wish that we had been informed before we arrived of the water table situation and we would have reduced the time we were there.

The old shower block had no hot water for washing up and toilets smelt.

Lack of soap in the toilets never replaced in the week we were there.

Larger and busier site than expected from pictures, therefore less privacy.

It was very family friendly, but no one stuck to the quiet times.

Day visitors to the Lake made it very busy (appreciate it was August Bank holiday and school holidays so may not always be the case).

Local attractions

Need a tipple to top off your evening by the lake? Take a 10-minute walk along to the village’s very own vineyard, Bride Valley Vineyard, for tours, tastings and a bottle or two to sip while the sun goes down. (If you’re more of a beer drinker, you’ll need to take the 15-minute drive to Palmers Brewery, which also runs excellent tours.) Time for the beach? Take your pick from the scenic offerings of West Bay and Burton Bradstock (both 15 minutes’ drive) and the 18-mile shingle stretch at Chesil Beach (half an hour), or head off to Weymouth (half an hour) to see the Sandworld sand sculptures and ogle the underwater beasts at the Sea Life Centre. Away from the coast, top days out might take you to Abbotsbury Swannery and gardens (20 minutes) or to explore the Teddy Bear Museum, Dinosaur Museum and Maiden Castle Iron Age fort in Dorchester (half an hour).
