Really nice site, owner is lovely…
Primitive forest floor tent campsite
Liked Really nice site, owner is lovely and it’s nice to be ‘in the forest’ as opposed to most campsites which are just fields. You can put your tent in the shade and get a great nights sleep. The location alone is worth coming for.
It’s also nice that they segregate group sizes, so as there were just two of us we could camp in a quiet spot away from the bigger groups even on a full bank holiday weekend.
The shower and toilet block are tired but they aren’t that bad compared to some campsites. They’re certainly clean which is the most important thing.
I really enjoyed the wildlife and the tawny owl.
Disliked Dislike is too strong a word - I just think it would be nice if they had a fridge / freezer for guests like some campsites do. Not essential but nice to have, especially if you stay for more than a night or two.

Beautiful site
Primitive forest floor tent campsite
Liked The wooded area for groups of 10 or more was really beautiful, a lovely setting to enjoy time outside and with friends. The surrounding area was also really nice to explore and the overall feel of the campsite was welcoming. Facilities were basic but clean and did the job.
Disliked The rules were a little stricter than we had hoped for an adult only camp site, with noise after 11pm being quite heavily policed.

Another wonderfully relaxing camp.
Powered forest floor tent campsite (woodland)
Liked This is our third stay now at Meadow Tree Farm. This time we bought the extended family and our anxious pooch.
The site is perfect for us. Lots of space as the pitches are on a help yourself basis and not allocated which is great as you can plonk your tent where you wish.
Kylie was an attentive host as always and we enjoyed our little chats on her walk rounds.
We did not use the amenities due to having our own toilet but we did pop in to check the toilets out. Yes, they are basic, but they are clean and usable.
We bought our anxious dog for the first time camping, and will be bringing her on our return. Meadow Tree Farm is most definitely a dog friendly site. Lots of room for a run around and lots of little walks through the woodland.
We had no issues with noisy neighbours and everyone on site was friendly and respectful.
We did miss not being able to use our firepit but absolutely understand that the fire restrictions were in place and being adhered to by all. However, this had no impact on our stay.
We have booked for next year already and are excited to come back for another relaxing stay.
There is a cafe at Gilbert's Dahlia Farm, two minutes walk away that we can highly recommend. Beautiful flowers and delicious food.
Thank you for another amazing stay.

Open space, lake for the dogs…
Powered grass RV campsite
Liked Open space, lake for the dogs to cool down in, pretty tree area for the tents, and relaxed pitches!
We were very grateful to pitch as a family group in a horseshoe shape.
Lovely that well-behaved dogs could play offlead!
Lots of groups but all were kept quiet later on and it was lovely to see everyone having a nice time.
Disliked The pretty area with shade was for tents only, so unfortunately we had the bare field without the trees. In the hot sun, we were melting!!
If we could be in the trees, we would come back, but we aren't in a tent so I don't think we could.
Toilet block very tired and needs TLC - the owner is aware and trying to change, but sadly this did impact the stay and would put us off. If it was slightly upgraded, it would make a big difference.

Definite room for improvement all around.
Primitive forest floor tent campsite
Liked Tranquility amongst the trees
Disliked Toilet / shower facilities certainly not up to scratch. Especially because of the number using the site
A large party was expected on the Saturday night. We were told when we arrived and to be fair noise subsided by 11pm ish
Only issue we had was a noisy neighbour who doesn't understand camping etiquette and played UNO very loudly with his partner. I think it was 1am before I got to sleep.
Being questioned about booking in whereas I booked in the previous day. Having to explain my chair was not a tent and it being a large chair. Well Im tall so need a big chair.
Perhaps check people's car registrations on arrival to save further confrontation

From the manager: I am very sorry if I caused any offence – that was certainly not my intention. When I saw a car pull in and a guest removing a bag of the size usually used for a pop-up tent, I naturally assumed it was a new arrival. From where I was standing, I didn’t immediately recognise you, as we had only met briefly when you checked in while still in your car.
I do my best to remember every guest, though this is not always possible, and for security reasons I must challenge anything that looks unusual to ensure nobody is sneaking onto site.
I appreciate your suggestion about checking car registrations, though in practice it isn’t always possible to carry those details with me when I am moving around the site.
We do make it clear on our website that we accept large groups, and I work very hard to ensure that noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm. On arrival, I explained that I live onsite and am available to deal with any issues. Unfortunately, nothing was reported to me during your stay, so I was unable to address any disturbance. I personally walked the site between 11pm and 12:30am and did not hear anything excessive outside the group area.
Our toilets are described accurately on our website, and the situation is fully explained to guests on arrival. They are cleaned three times daily, and I rely on guests to report any problems that occur outside of those times so they can be resolved quickly.
During your stay, our only interactions were at check-in and later when you collected your chair – at which time I apologised for the initial misunderstanding, as I do again now. At no other time were any concerns raised with me about noise or facilities. Had they been, I would have acted immediately to resolve them.
