  • Quiet site (no music or groups) in a rural location on a working farm
  • A 20-minutes' drive from both Blackpool and Lancaster
  • Forest of Bowland and Beacon Fell Country Park within 10 miles
You'll find reasons aplenty why this park is proving pretty popular with those seeking to pitch up in the north west: its position is pretty excellent, its vibe relaxed, and its team very friendly indeed. Poplar Grove Farm Caravan Park is a 160-acre working family farm, just 12 miles from Blackpool for those who like illuminating hols, and halfway between Lancaster and Preston for city sightseers. Even closer (and filled with pubs and restaurants), the old market town of Garstang is a couple of miles away on the River Wyre: river fishing ahoy… And for hikers, bikers and scenic view seekers, the unspoiled countryside of the Forest of Bowland and vistas of the Bowland Fells can be reached within 11 miles – or take yourself out into the surrounding Lancashire countryside: miles of walks and bike trails are all around. All guests have access to a modern toilet and shower block with facilities for washing your dog and their paws. The site also has a chemical disposal point.

What customers say

Poplar Grove Farm gets top marks for spotless facilities, roomy pitches, and great staff. Visitors love the clean, modern washrooms. The peaceful vibe, play area, and fishing lake make it a family hit, and the farm animals are a big draw for kids. Most stays are fantastic, with only minor notes on occasional guest noise or small updates needed.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The new shower and toilet block.
Lovely hot showers. Facilities beautifully clean.

Disliked It was quite a distance to walk to the toilets from the camping area, but it was no real hardship.

Shepherd's hut (no pets, premium)

Liked The site was great for families who just wanted time to relax. Our little boy loved the animals, he enjoyed the park and also the large area of grass adjacent to the park to have a kick around in the evening.

The showers and toilets were very clean, in fact the cleanest I’ve experienced whilst camping.

The vending machines are a great idea and my little one loved having an ice lolly whilst watching the chickens.

We usually go camping in our tent but fancied a change so stayed in the premium shepherd hut. The beds were comfortable, it was clean and the added tea and coffee were a bonus when we arrived as we hadn’t yet been shopping!

Briefly spoke to the owner this morning as it was her mum who checked us in - both seem lovely and approachable should you have any queries or concerns, although we didn’t.

Having read a couple of the other reviews I was a little apprehensive but I’ve got to say it exceeded our expectations - completely. Overall a really lovely stay and a great refresh for our little family, we’re already looking at when we can return.

Liked What a gorgeous caravan park so peaceful. There's a fishing lake. No music aloud so no idiots carrying on till early hours. A lovely family run site. Spotless clean. Owner is so lovely. The toilets and showers are absolutely lovely too and spotless clean. My whole family were more than impressed. There's a play area for the kids. Its about 30 minutes run into Blackpool. We will definitely be returning again and again I'm so glad I found this place it's a little gem 💎

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Really enjoyable stay. Brilliant children’s play area. Lovely pond for fishing. The facilities are the cleanest I’ve ever seen for a campsite. Absolutely faultless trip!

Disliked Nothing I or we didn’t dislike. There doesn’t appear to be many non electric pitches but that isn’t a complaint!

Local attractions

Garstang (the world's first Fairtrade Town, food fact fans) is a few minutes' drive or two miles' walk from Poplar Grove and comes with seven pubs and three restaurants; have a duke too at the ruins of 15th-century Greenhaugh Castle overlooking the town. The village of Scorton, three miles from base, has a pub, garden centre, café, and restaurant: if you're around during the May bank holiday, roll along to the Bike and Barrows Festival and the Scorton Music Festival for wheelbarrow racing, sheep racing and other shenanigans. To the east of Garstang, the old hunting ground of the Forest of Bowland is now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty landscaped by moorland, fells and valleys, with endless opps for walking, cycling, fell running and wildlife watching (not all at once, and look out for the hen harriers…). The Bowland Visitor Centre, with info on the area's activities and events, is in Beacon Fell Country Park. A 20-minute drive will land you at either Blackpool (south east) or Lancashire's county town of Lancaster (north), with a fair good time to be had at the former and a load of historical sightseeing available at the latter. Preston is about 25 minutes' drive south. To investigate a bit further afield, the watery wonders of the Lake District are about an hour's drive away.
