Want to ‘do’ New York but not so keen on hotel prices? Here’s your chance to explore NYC from the comfort of your RV, for at Skyline RV Park in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, you can rest up on banks of the East River, and be in Times Square in half an hour. And once you’ve settled in on your pitch, you’ll have a sneak preview of its major USP – the view of Manhattan’s skyscraper skyline glittering across the river; it’s particularly spectacular at sunset. Comprising a massive open concrete space, the RV park is on private property and monitored by 24/7 security in the adjacent building, so you can whizz off sightseeing knowing that all your gear is safe. The subway is four blocks away. Take the G Train from Greenpoint Avenue stop (10 minutes’ walk) to be whisked into Manhattan in around 30 minutes. Please note, it might be an idea to use a trucker app while getting to Skyline, as you can’t drive an RV in some areas of Brooklyn.

Liked Die Aussicht an der Waterfront ist sehr gut. Auch die gute Anbindung an Manhatten, wenn die Fähre fährt.

Disliked Keine Möglichkeit den Tank zu leeren und die Duschen sowie Toiletten sind insbesondere an dem Platz über die Straße extrem schmutzig bzw. ungepflegt. Hier muss dringend etwas gemacht werden da man, wie erwähnt seine Tanks nicht leeren kann, ist man bei mehreren Tagen Aufenthalt gezwungen diese zu nutzen. An der Waterfront waren zumindest die Toiletten okay, auf der anderen Seite sind Toiletten und Duschen in einem Container untergebracht und wirklich nicht schön und ich bin einiges gewöhnt. Das hat den Aufenthalt doch sehr getrübt.
Auch der Kontakt NUR telefonisch bei Ankunft ist für Ausländer nur mit Datenkarte eher unglücklich.

Liked Beautiful View!! Full Hookup and Dumping Station which both worked really well! Benches at the water where you can sit and eat your stuff in front of the view of Manhattan. Nice and chill owner. Only 5 mins away from ferry or subway

Local attractions

Still dug into its traditional Polish roots while spawning a community of creatives, the surrounding hipster neighbourhood of Greenpoint has much to offer: waterfront views and those NYC skyscrapers on the horizon for starters. The area is also awash with wacky vintage shops, side by side with old-school restaurants serving tasty Polish food and grungy nightlife picks. If you’re keen to get acquainted with the bucket-list attractions of downtown Manhattan, jump on the subway to tick off the following: the Empire State Building (35 minutes by subway), the Museum of Modern Art (half an hour) and shopping on Fifth Avenue (40 minutes). Grab the ingredients from a nearby deli or bakery and duck into Central Park (half an hour) for a picnic at the landmark Bethesda Terrace, or have a stroll along the High Line (35 minutes) to spot all the street art. Want to make a night of it? Catch a show along Broadway (half an hour).
