What customers say
Clean facilities, helpful staff, and great pitches get a thumbs up. Some found pitches rocky, WiFi extra, and a few mentioned dated showers. Still a good base for exploring.

Liked The peaceful nature of the site. Generous pitch sizes. The pitch having its own tap for water so you have constant access to fresh water without having to walk far to wash up or fill up big water tanks for the day. The swimming pool was lovely. It was also pretty quiet when we went so always able to use the sun loungers no matter what time we arrived. The younger male member of staff had very good English. Staff polite and welcoming. Lovely location, beautiful walks and scenery. Small park for young kids. Few pieces of outdoor gym equipment. Can park by pitch. Electric hook up easy to use.
Disliked The shower block was closed for most of the week. We had a shower the first morning we stayed and it was lovely and warm. This was the only time this particular block was open and was locked the rest of the week. The alternative shower block was not very nice. The water wouldn’t stay on and was either freezing cold or too hot. There wasn’t also an unlocked door housing the electric fuse box and mains which had live wires uncovered in. Accident waiting to happen especially with explorative children. There was never any toilet roll in the toilets so you just bring your own when you visit and make sure you have enough for your duration. Toilets were super small and only one for females and one for males. No soap by the outside sink.
The pitch was quite muddy which made packing down hard and filthy. Our pitch was very uneven too. Very steep hilly site and we had brought the boys bikes with us. They were only able to use them for short distances. Bar had very peculiar opening hours and was shut for most of the afternoon and then seemed to shut around 6pm 🤷🏻♀️ We stayed for a week at the end of August and there were no food vans or entertainment like advertised. Do a food shop before you arrive as there isn’t lots of local shops.

From the manager: Hello,
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, spacious pitches, swimming pool, and the welcome from our team.
Regarding your comments, please note that at the end of August the attendance is lower, which is why the bar and certain services have more limited opening hours. This is also why there were fewer food trucks and entertainment activities during your stay.
However, the sanitary block was indeed open all week, as it was used by other campers.
We take note of your remarks about the facilities and site conditions, as your observations will help us to improve for next season.
We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again under better conditions.

From the manager: Bonjour Anne,
Bien cordialement,
L’équipe du Camping La Sablière du Mont Noir
Excellent site - roof tent friendly . Clean , good bars nearby .

Liked We stayed here as a stopover in our Tentbox XL for a longer journey down to Switzerland via Luxembourg and initially had quite low expectations due to its 7.7 review score but just needed a quick rest break . However, we were totally delighted in the end! We were greeted with a friendly welcome - in English- given a map and had details explained. The showers were hot and toilets clean . There’s a pool and bar and the pitches are flat and the pitches have hedges giving a secluded feel. We were really pleasantly surprised by the number of bars and restaurants around the site - a French bistro , and a craft beer : stone baked pizza bar and more ! Even though it was Sunday it was still vibrant in mid august . There’s a fairground for kids and lovely walks . We’d definitely come back as it’s a good site for a one hour from Calais late train stopover en route to further afield .
Disliked Nothing !

From the manager: Dear guest,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that your stopover turned out to be such a pleasant surprise and that you enjoyed the warm welcome, our facilities, and the atmosphere around the campsite.
We’re very happy that you appreciated both the services on site and the nearby restaurants and activities. It was a pleasure to host you and we’d be glad to welcome you back anytime on your way through France.

Oud, rommelig met slechte voorzieningen

Liked Het zwembad was ok

From the manager: Beste gast,

Disliked Cold water for showering and washing dishes, only a few toilets, everywhere was steep to walk, unfinished football/games field, loud and active night life from the regular guests

From the manager: Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We are glad you appreciated the location close to Belgium and the bike tracks. 🚴♂️
We are sorry to read about the inconveniences you experienced. The water heating system and the sanitary facilities are points we are working on improving. The football/games field is indeed under development, and we hope to have it fully ready for next season.
As for the nightlife, our campsite usually aims for a calm and family-friendly atmosphere, but we understand that some evenings may have felt too lively. Please don’t hesitate to contact the night guard or reception in such cases so we can react immediately.
We hope to welcome you again in the future under better conditions.

Liked Staff were friendly and helpful. Swimming pool and bar were well kept. Evening entertainment was fun even if my French wasn't always keeping up. The morning delivery of bread etc was still warm when delivered. Ideal location for WWI and II history (one bunker on the site and another 5 mins walk).
Disliked Not enough toilets and showers.
