  • Campsite with sea views in Finistère’s Site Natura 2000 de Guissény
  • Étang du Curnic 15 minutes’ walk and Plouguerneau 10 minutes’ drive
  • Caravan bar, pétanque courts and play area; direct access to the beach
Direct access to a sandy beach in a protected Natura 2000 landscape. Cycling and hiking along the long-distance GR34 Customs Trail. Spectacular Atlantic views. That’s what you can look forward to when you book your stay at Camping du Curnic in Finistère, run by David and Manu, long-time friends and residents of the local town Guissény (five minutes’ drive) since 2003. Spread over around 10 acres, the campsite was extensively renovated in 2023, with solar-powered shower blocks and a constant supply of hot water plus outdoor facilities including secure bike storage and charging stations for electric bikes. There are lots of chances for family fun in the outdoors too, like the play area, pétanque courts and a laidback caravan bar (which serves takeaways too) with a sheltered terrace, while a food truck sometimes puts in an appearance as well. Accommodation comes in all shapes and sizes, with some pitches set among the dunes and others – neatly partitioned by hedgerows – closer to the aforementioned facilities. Dogs are welcome to join you on your Finistère jaunt, and no doubt they will welcome all the exercise as you explore the untamed Côte des Legends on foot. Happily the beach is canine-friendly too.

Haies power optional grass site

Liked Hedged plots, spacious, suitable for campers but not MH (other area for these). Direct access to sandy beach. Lovely clean toilet block (no toilet seats) and showers with plenty of hot water. Lots of space for all different outfits. Room with kettle and microwave and books available. Staff should good English and very friendly.

Disliked No toilet seats but this is standard in France. Nowhere to empty chemical toilet which is annoying for such a big site. Black waste must be emptied into sink area so not ideal. Slow check in process which was also the queue for the shop.

Haies power optional grass site

Haies power optional grass site

Liked A great location among dunes next to a beautiful beach. I liked the variety of pitches , among dunes or sheltered by hedges, and mostly level. The washrooms, showers and washing up facilities are excellent and modern, with very hot water for washing up. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful, and the shop was well stocked with basic food for camping.

Disliked One night people made a lot of noise at 1.00 to 2.00am after coming back from the nearby harbour-front bar, which belongs to the campsite owners and was open until 1.00am. Otherwise the site was very peaceful.

Power optional grass motorhome site

Liked This is a gem of a site. Beautiful location in the dunes, by the sea. Facilities well planned, well kept, very clean. Manu loves his ‘paradise’ and shared it willingly, patiently and with great friendliness and enthusiasm . Eco issues are very important to him and there is solar power energy and recycling including a compost making facility. Very peaceful for us (out of season).
I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I would love to return .

Local attractions

Active families can keep themselves occupied with wild swimming, escapades aboard kayaks and paddleboards or learning how to sail dinghies at the Base Nautique de Guissény (five minutes’ walk, all abilities catered for). For the more adventurous, there’s also kitesurfing on reliable waves at quiet Plage du Vougo (15 minutes). Strike out from the campsite on the GR34 hiking trail to witness dramatic seascapes from the clifftops, or canter along the beach at sunset aboard ponies from the local riding school (five minutes’ drive). Alternatively, hire mountain bikes in Plouguerneau (10 minutes) to follow mountain bike tracks including the circular Hafen Morgat route over rough ground, for which some expertise is needed. For gentler days out, head to Étang du Curnic (15 minutes’ walk), separated from the sea by a narrow spit of land, to spot bitterns, sandpipers and swans among the reeds, or see if you can glimpse rare orchids on a stroll around the wetlands of Site Natura 2000 de Guissény (also 15 minutes).
