Set in quiet countryside near the western end of Loch Tay and around an hour's drive from Loch Lomond, Cruachan Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a family-run site in a great position for sightseeing around the southern Highlands and central Scotland. Whatever kind of accommodation you opt for, you'll have access to a smart and spacious park with well-maintained amenities like a toilet and shower block and a laundry room. The site is well under a mile from the banks of Loch Tay and close to lots of other outdoor attractions: watersports, birdwatching and tracking down ancient burial sites are all popular pastimes you can get up to in the local area. It's also a 15 minutes' walk from Loch Tay Highland Lodges, where guests are welcome to use the facilities. Cruachan Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a five-minute drive to the east of Killin, a scenic spot with a castle, pubs, a supermarket and waterside walks around the gorgeous Falls of Dochart.

Nice quiet campsite spectacular views, great location for nature based activities

Hobbit pod 3 perfect bad for 2 munro baggers

There’s now a small 1cm wooden rubik’s cube at the top of each munro only 270 left to bag.

Liked: Beautiful views. Clean and functional facilities. Quiet and lovely if you went exploring and on-site and amazing wildlife spotting, which we loved.

Disliked: Check in procedure. I came with a caravan and had to go to the reception, 180 degree turn, back onto the road and back the way I came to get to the pitch. Could we maybe get our pitch number in advance or check in online?

Not criticisms but good to know:

Larger site with the reception block gets noisy with the hits of Taylor Swift belted out when we visited but plenty of quieter coves when you explored the woodland paths. Paths were slippy and muddy as you would expect in Scotland but good to be aware.

We needed our 25m electric hookup cable

Liked: Very peaceful
Lovely countryside.

Disliked: No communal areas to sit and relax. Couldn't find anywhere to charge telephones. Only 1 picknic bench for the camping area, and that's not safe. Toilets and showers just acceptable

Unpowered grass tent site (five person)

Liked: Toilets wash facilities all good and clean. Site clean and tidy very well kept. Easily visible from the road. Food,small.shop and reception within walking distance. Good site for a one night stop over.

Disliked: No visible outdoor water source for campers. Conflicting information on arrival and departure times.booking co formation email said 2pm -11am when we arrived we were booked in for a 4pm arrival that we were not aware of and departure was now 10am ?. Very few flat grounded areas for pitching tents. "Path to the loch" was treacherous,dangerous and we were easily turned around in the heavily wooded area as no visable path to follow at times and no warning of very steep teraine.then to finaly arrive at the loch side to find there isn't even an area of ground to stand on just to stare thought the trees. Glad we were there as 2 adults and not as a family with our 3 kids. (Maybe sign post this).

Liked: The campsite was great. The reception staff were very helpful, gave us a map and checked us in.
Small café on site and small walk down to see loch tay.
Only 5 mins to town where there is a co-op, coffee shops, foods.
The toilet/bathrooms are clean.

Disliked: Small flies everywhere, but being near to a forest that is normal.

Liked: The pitches were a good size. The toilet and shower block was lovely and clean, not too far away from pitch.

Disliked: The path along to the main park with restaurant was very muddy and not very safe under foot. Perhaps they could extend the chips on the pitches to that path too enabling all to enjoy all amenities.

Liked: The very friendly, warm welcome. Quiet.
We've stayed before. A great location and it's a lovely walk down through the woods to the Loch shore.
As it rained solidly for 24 hours. We were confined to barracks, as it were.
Great value for money.

Disliked: Arriving at the site to find out we had to drive back out, back up the road to next door to check in and then drive back out down the road back next door to our pitch.
I do belive this will be sorted soon.
The same for the aged toilet block.

Local attractions

Starting locally, Killin Castle (five minutes' drive) is definitely a landmark to explore. While here, wander down past the pretty waters at the Falls of Dochart (five minutes) and keep an eye out for wildlife. Killin Golf Club (also five minutes) is a well-liked course with nine scenic landscaped holes to try, while just a little further away at Ben Lawers Dam (10 minutes) you can get a close-up view of one of Scotland's highest Munros. After exploring Loch Tay and the local area, it's a short enough drive to Loch Tay (20 minutes), where plenty of watersports and hiking trails are on offer. The village of Aberfoyle (an hour away) is very popular with off-road cyclists who appreciate its miles of well-maintained gravel tracks, and there's also a forest park with Go Ape, a visitor centre and a hide where beady-eyed visitors may spot red squirrels among the trees. For more heritage sights, try Castle Menzies (30 minutes), an imposing 16th-century clan seat, or Stirling Castle (an hour and 10 minutes), one of the most important and impressive historic buildings in Scotland.
