  • Friendly and family-run rural site 10 minutes' drive from Helston
  • A natural wildlife habitat with plenty of space to play
  • Pub within walking distance; two miles from Praa Sands beach
Ah, that old Cornish dilemma: coast or country? If you conclude that a bit of both would be quite tremendous, take a look at Tremorvu, a friendly, family-run place that’s got both distant sea views and eight acres of rural space to play with. The peaceful fields here are bordered by hedges that encourage the local wildlife to hang around; pop your head over the top and you’ll be looking north towards Tregonning Hill or south to see the sea at Praa Sands (two miles away). Grab a glass, put your feet up and face west at a suitable hour and you may well be in for a spectacular sunset to finish the day. Within those hedges are plenty of space to strike up a barbie or campfire while the nippers run about. In peak season, a small shop opens up to sell local eggs, milk, bread, bacon and other essentials, plus the occasional homemade cake. Other supplies can be picked up at the supermarkets in Helston (10 minutes’ drive), and there’s an excellent pub 15 minutes’ walk away if you’d like a little stroll before your drinks and dins. Working up an appetite for meals shouldn’t be too hard… there are walks, bike rides, surfing, watersports and beach days all within a few miles, and you’re also in a strategic position for days out at St Michael's Mount, St Ives, The Flambards Experience and heaps more Cornish faves.

Power optional grass tent or motorhome site (solo)

Liked Very nice site, excellent showers, nice bit of space for each pitch, privacy with some hedges, and run by a nice couple.

Excellent price as well!

Local pub about a twenty minutes walk up a peaceful road, but otherwise nicely tucked back.

Will absolutely return.

Bell tent

Liked Nearly everything.
Lovely bell tent good facilities.
Good location.

Disliked Poor WiFi, it was advertised as good.

From the manager: Many thanks for booking with us, we're very glad you enjoyed the Bell Tent. Shame about the Wi-Fi, it is, generally, good throughout the site and it usually works well in BT with EHU. It comes in via Star-link (as we are not connected to fibre optic yet) and we have boosters across the site, the weather was not good during your stay, lots of mist, this may have impacted the booster's signal perhaps, but we hope it didn't impede on your holiday too much!

1 bedroom camping pod (deluxe)

Liked The glamping pod had everything you need. Furniture was in excellent condition. Supplied with 6x eggs, milk, sourdough bread and butter which covered our breakfast need. On a small hill which gave you a good lookout to the coast and Penzance in distance.

The host Lee was very friendly and helpful. He even borrowed batteries to us just when I found I forgot to bring it with me.

From the manager: Thank you for booking with us and taking the time to submit your review, a great description!
Guests often wonder about our facilities in high season, in all the years we've been here the facilities have coped well, they get busy but we very rarely have people queueing, plus we get campervans and motorhomes that have their own facilities on board.
Hope you'll visit us again when you're back in Cornwall :)

Powered grass site

Liked Superb Location for visiting sw cornwall, spacious pitches flat and some with mature bushes around them. Hot showers and clean toilets. We had the field mainly to ourselves so was perfect for our dog, not being disturbed by people walking past. Owners friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend as a base for visiting area. Could get to lands end, st Ives and Falmouth in less than an hour. Altogether a fabulous 2 weeks with plenty of sunshine.

Liked Peaceful

Disliked Basic, entry to toilets need a door, towel is unhygenic

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We're glad you enjoyed the peacefulness and our perfect location.
Although we find the other scores given quite strange as you would recommend us and visit again!
Our shower and toilet facilities are basic, but clean, with plenty of hot water, we provide paper towels to dry your hands, a towel is left in the Gents as back up should the towels run out. The Barn housing the Gents facilities is in need of an exterior door to keep out the weather and one is being made for us, the Barn has not had a door on it before. Each toilet and each shower has its own door within the Barn.
We believe we have our price point correct, and the influx of bookings and returning customers is evidence enough for us! Please note that our prices include VAT.
Accommodation? We did not provide any, you stayed in your own motorhome.
Customer Service? You were greeted warmly on arrival, shown around the facilities, given a choice of spacious pitches for your motorhome, we explained where you could find us should you need help and you came to see us for help with the internet which was gladly given.
Wi-Fi? It's actually pretty good and reliable, so not sure what happened there, but we didn't see you again so had no idea this was an issue.

The perfect break. We needed time out for the daily grind and loved it

1 bedroom camping pod (deluxe)

Liked The cabin was lovely, an ideal size for a couple. Setting was lovely and easy to find with a sea view in the distance from the cabin. An added surprise was the newly installed log fired hot tub that we did not know was there.

Nice touch was the essentials to settle in without visiting a shop.

Lee was excellent, chatty and knowledgeable about the local area and very helpful.

Camp site was quiet when we visited so felt very private and suited us perfectly.

Disliked Nothing, we had a lovely time would highly recommend and would love to return sometime.

Local attractions

Stretch those legs out and get your boots on – there are heaps of fab walks nearby. Traipse up Tregonning Hill (half an hour or so) for tiptop scenic views and then carry on to the National Trust’s Godolphin Estate (an hour’s hike) for gorgeous garden walks. (Top tip: the grounds are particularly ravishing when all the bluebells burst to life in May.) You can stroll by the sea too should you wish, using the scent of salt air to point you to the South West Coast Path, a mere couple of miles away. You’re never far from a stunning beach in Cornwall, either: the top choices round here are Praa Sands (10 minutes’ drive) for sandcastles, swimming and surfing, and the little secluded cove at Rinsey, just a little further east. For kayaking and paddleboarding, plot a course to Porthleven harbour (15 minutes). Pack yourselves into the car and you’re within easy reach of all sorts of day trips: St Michael's Mount (15 minutes), The Flambards Experience (20 minutes), the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (25 minutes) and the galleries of St Ives (half an hour); you might also consider going all the way to the edge at Land’s End (40 minutes).
