  • Family-friendly farm campsite 20 minutes’ drive from Helston, Cornwall
  • Flambards Theme Park 20 minutes’ drive; Kennack Sands 15 minutes
  • Animal feeding; organic ice cream; restaurant; live music in summer
Small, family-run and very family-friendly with lots of animals nearby, Roskilly Camping is a low-key farm site tucked away in south-west Cornwall, 20 minutes’ drive from Helston. Despite its remote location, there’s masses to do round and about, like exploring the farm ponds and feeding the gentle Jersey cows in the neighbouring fields. The campsite has large grass pitches in a well-maintained field surrounded by mature Cornish hedges. Spotless loos and showers, a small communal area with washing-up and waste disposal are available too. No need to worry about catering for the kids, as there is a restaurant serving up locally sourced food all day long – as well as organic ice creams and sundaes made from milk produced by the aforementioned Jersey cows. In summer, things really get going with live music from local bands. But back to those animals; cows, chickens, goats, pigs and geese can all be fed by hand – surely a favourite with the kids? Just ask the site owners and they’ll organise a session for you. And looking further afield, there are loads of sandy beaches and pretty seaside villages within 15 minutes’ drive.

Liked: This campsite was an amazing find. I visited the farm with my daughter, my and nan last Friday and was in the process of deciding on somewhere to camp with my daughter and partner when I saw the campsite here, as well as the facilities and things on the farm. I knew we had to try it so returned on Monday - Wednesday with my little family. We had a spot with a bench, the other pitches were well spaced out and the campsite wasn't over crowded. They have two toilets with showers in both. They also have a communal shelter that has a bench, sink, kettle, toaster, freezer and different bins. You are allowed fires, but have to buy the wood there. We didn't end of having one as we spent a lot of time exploring the ponds/woods, so brought ours home with us! There is a gift shop/gallery, toilet block and shop/restaurant with ice cream parlor. You can sit inside, or outside where there is a lovely atmosphere, beautiful greenery and lighting in the evening. The ice cream and fudge is really nice, and the pizza is absolutely gorgeous! Children's meals come with a free 1 scoop ice cream of their choice. There are lots of animals and you can buy feed in the shop for 80p per bag, I think they have goat/sheep, cow, chicken, pig and duck feed. If you walk on from the animals, there is beautiful scenery to explore. Fields, ponds, a tree swing, woodlands, lots and lots of beautiful plants etc! We have an absolutely amazing time. Thank you!!!

Disliked: Nothing too bad! They could do with an extra fee toilet or two that aren't showers aswell to avoid the toilets being occupied for too long. However, this isn't a huge issue as the restaurant toilet block is only across from the campsite and is open most of the day/evening!
