  • Friendly family-run touring park in spectacular Cornish countryside
  • Secluded yet well placed for local beaches (2.5 miles) and attractions
  • A short drive from restaurants and a traditional Cornish pub
There are reasons aplenty why Cornwall's Higher Trevaskis Caravan Park is a highly popular place for gratified guests. Its Hayle setting, for starters, in a nifty locale for getting around the top Cornish highlights and tackling the county's active options: it's only a few miles from sandy beaches at Godrevy, Gwithian and Porthkidney Sands for surfing, sunbathing and rockpooling, and within eight of St Michael's Mount for trips to one of Cornwall's most famed spots. The Eden Project, The Flambards Experience and Paradise Park all are within easy reach. Then there's all the little touches laid on by the thoughtful and friendly team, such as free mobile phone charging, spotless amenities, and a spacious family shower room with constant free hot water. Being thoughtful souls, there's wifi throughout the site (although patchy on some pitches). Views? But of course: Higher Trevaskis is in a scenic (and secluded) setting, and has plenty of pitch space among greenery galore and loads of room for play. Kids can ride their bikes around the park, tackle the swings and slides of the play area or challenge the grownups to a game of some sort in the sports field. Head to the basket swing, wooden climbing stack, wooden trim trail and sports field. After all that, get the barbecue sorted for peaceful evenings in this serene space: a small shop is on site for supplies, and a much-recommended farm shop/restaurant and a pub are a short drive away.

What customers say

Top spot! Clean facilities, friendly staff, spacious pitches. Great Cornwall base. WiFi's a bit dodge, ground can be tough for pegs, and shops are a trek.

Liked The welcome we had from Dan. The flexibility to move place because of strong winds. The sanitary was tidy and clean.
location is great, close to both sides of the coast line, within reach of a supermarket and for trucks visiting for eating on the campsite.

Disliked The ground is very hard, so lots of our pegs were broken, also our hammer.
It is good to know before coming to bring decent strong pegs and a heavy hammer.

From the manager: Thank you for your review. Please ensure you read the terms and conditions of a site before booking. In our Ts & Cs you are advised to bring strong pegs as our ground can be hard especially when we haven't had much rain which has been the case this summer.

Liked Lovely welcome by Dan one of the owners, clearly couldn’t do enough for you.
Toilet and shower block were very clean.
We stayed on the hard standing area at the bottom of the site which was very quiet.
Great base for the excellent beaches of Hayle.
Would definitely stay again.

Liked Friendly welcome on arrival. Nice level pitch. Showers and toilets clean. Dog friendly.

Disliked Very aggressive signage everywhere from the shower block to the entrance. Gave the overall impression that guests were nothing but a nuisance! No shop open and very isolated with nothing near enough to walk to.

Liked Everything! This was such a lovely campsite we really enjoyed our stay. On arrival the owner was very welcoming and we were given a choice of pitches and ended up in an area to ourselves in Ash. There was a water point right next to it which was very useful. The facilities were spotlessly clean, and we found the family/disabled wet room with toilet, baby change, sink and shower with hand shower was amazing for us as a family getting two under 6’s ready for the night! The play area was great for the kids and the site also has WiFi, which can be patchy but this is explained when you arrive, we didn’t need it either way but thought it was a great addition. It’s in a great location very close to Hayle, St Ives, Portreath and many more lovely areas to visit.

Disliked Only thing we found was the ground was a little rocky underneath, however again this was explained before we pitched and offered help if needed. We just need to upgrade our tent pegs 😊

Local attractions

There's loads of choice for attractions and activities with a stay at this fine and peaceful place, including Trevaskis Farm half a mile away, where you can meet the animals, have a meal at the restaurant or pick up produce at the farm shop. Nearby Paradise Park is a popular family stop around this part of Cornwall: have a morning around the wildlife sanctuary before letting the kids loose in the Jungle Barn play centre. Kids will also likely clamour for a day at The Flambards Experience near Helston, and for a delve into the many activities of the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, to meet the Vikings, learn how to sail and climb a 100ft tower. Beaches are a must in these parts too: the closest is Gwithian, two and a half miles away, with three miles of golden sand to laze around on, rockpools to thoroughly investigate, and waters popular for surfing. Other options are fab St Michael's Mount with its medieval castle and church, the arty vibe of Tate St Ives, and the giant biomes of the Eden Project, near St Austell.
