What customers say
Lovely, quiet spot with top-notch facilities like clean loos, showers, a ripper bakery & pub. Great location for walks, including a nice wander to Lowther Castle. Staff are super friendly & helpful. While most loved it, some reckon the showers need a freshen-up & a few pitches are a bit tight.

Lovely site and ideal setting for the children 🏕
Powered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Location for the park where we were pitched with tent was ideal for the children to play without worry, facilities were clean and tidy, short walk to toilets, bins & water, access to the river so the children could investigate and see what they could find. Like the option for a bath as one of my children won't do showers. Setting of the park was beautiful!
Disliked Not ideal for the toilets for the kids, especially for those that don't give you much warning 🫣 There were a few close calls.

Good site with friendly staff and level pitches.
Powered grass and gravel caravan site
Liked Ideal location for Ullswater. On site bakery. Landscape - trees and nearby river, much more than just another field. Friendly and helpful staff. Level pitches.
Disliked Toilet and shower blocks a bit tired and worn and could have been cleaner and better maintained.

Liked Clean site well maintained. Shower block great even had a bath plenty of showers toilets. Easily accessed from the m6 and a66. Basic shop selling amazing apple pies plus basic extras. A day trip to Lake District national park is a must. CA124RD. Great place some amazing animals.
Disliked Only minor downside was pitches were bit uneven but nothing serious nothing a good rake and top up with gravel wouldn’t fix.

Nice site nice area friendly staff ... un level pitches cramped
Powered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Loved the area next to a river with some good bike tracks / walks staff were friendly and had a shop on site with a small pub
Disliked Tent pitches were cramped and on a slope and a trek from toilet blocks witch were cold and very out dated

Nice but large site with many statics
Powered grass and gravel caravan site (super)
Liked Bakery, pitch sizes, friendly staff, position in Lake District
Disliked Washrooms need updating (most of the toilets didn’t flush properly) and having to pay an extra £10/day for WiFi. Codes on washroom doors are a pain.

Could be lovely, however…
Powered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked This is a beautiful place, with so much potential. If I stayed in a caravan or one of the holiday homes I would probably be very happy and comfortable on the site. The playground, ball game area and big field for playing on are brilliant for the kids. The onsite bakery was brilliant. Well priced and everything we had from there was delicious.
Disliked I’m so sorry but for us the bad outweighed the good. I wanted to love it because it was beautiful. The pitches are far far too small and the camping area is cramped and not pleasant. It felt like being at a festival. The toilets and showers were awful and so far away from the pitches. If they had been clean and in good condition I might not of minded but they were filthy all the time, always out of soap at the sinks, toilet seats hanging off or wonky, santitary bins full to bursting, showers that literally last 5 seconds (I’d read that before and thought someone was exaggerating, they weren’t). The pot wash at the toilets was bad, no light so you can’t see what you are doing, filthy sinks, hot taps that trickle out and take forever to fill the bowl. The kids that are from the static caravans are awful, riding around the site doing wheelies on their bikes, swearing and shouting and intimidating younger kids. There doesn’t seem to be anyone supervising the site and there is hardly ever anyone around to talk about concerns with. The office which is supposed to be open until 5 was abandoned at 4.30. There’s open fires going on, music blaring, swearing and shouting way past the time when it’s supposed to be quiet. Oh and the dogs. I love dogs, I have one and she’s a barker so she doesn’t come camping with us, the camping field however is just full of barking, howling dogs. The barking starts at 6am. This is not a cheap site and possibly one of the worst we have stopped at. I have never left a bad review before but this place was not great.
