From the manager: We’re truly sorry to hear that your experience at Springhouse did not meet expectations. We take great pride in providing a peaceful, high-quality holiday environment, so it’s very disappointing to learn that this was not your experience.
Unfortunately, there was an issue with the cesspit during your stay that we were unaware of at the time. Had we known, we would have been more than happy to relocate you, as alternative pitches were available where this problem would not have affected your stay.
Regarding the Lounge Bar, it is indeed open on Sundays, but only until 5pm. If you visited later in the day, that would explain why it was closed.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies. We deeply regret that your visit did not reflect the positive experiences many of our guests enjoy, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us to improve.
Clean friendly and definitely worth the stay.

Cedar Close powered gravel caravan site (water hook-up)
Liked: Site is lovely, very clean and well looked after.
Park was fab for ghd kids, staff were lovely very nice people
Lovely walk right around the site.
Hexham , Corbridge is close by and Slaley Hall all has lovely food and walks.
Disliked: The pitch we were on was close to the waste and we could smell not a great smell.
But the layout at pitch was great, next time I would get a different pitch.
The bar was full of very drunk men and bad language on the Sunday night. But must say the bar and outside area was lovely and a good menu. Good during the day and early evening.
Need to check the roads out to it as not all are caravan or moterhome friendly.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind comments and helpful feedback. We're so pleased you found the site clean and well-maintained, and that the park, staff, and surroundings made a positive impression. It’s great to hear the kids enjoyed it too!
We're very sorry about the issue with the smell near your pitch. This was due to a problem with the waste system we were unaware of at the time. Had we known, we would have been happy to offer an alternative pitch, and we’re working to ensure this doesn't happen again.
We also appreciate your comments about the bar. While it's normally a relaxing space for all guests, we’re sorry your Sunday evening experience wasn’t up to standard. We’re reviewing how we manage this going forward to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere.
Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back soon.

Liked: Size of the pitch was amazing, peaceful and quiet. Amazing dog walk for the pooches.
Disliked: When booking on pitch up said bbqs allowed but not charcoal, but other pitches had log burners and bbq going on a night time. Roads leading to site were! awful not much option in shop.
Only one shower cubicle available as other was out of service.

Liked: This was our second visit to this site and to be totally honest I was expecting a lot of noise and children as it was Easter weekend. Very surprised to find all the noise stopped at about 10 o'clock and the children all left the Park by 9 o'clock.
Toilet and shower facilities always clean, good service at the bar and reception couldn't be more helpful.
The grounds are very well kept!
The grass was almost bowling green length everywhere and all plants, shrubs perfectly trimmed.
Elsan point was adequate ((don't think I have ever seen one that makes me go wow)
Rabbits running around everywhere (so cute) we did a bit of walking as we have two dogs and you can genuinely walk for miles. The designated dog walking area is massive and no leash needed. it is absolutely gorgeous everywhere.
If you want to venture off the site for food we went to travelers rest (about 30 minutes walk) food and service also amazing.
I couldn't say anything bad about this site!
Love it.
Disliked: Not a dislike from me but I you don't want to be miles away from shops and In total peace this is probably not for you.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed your second visit just as much—or even more—than the first.
It’s great to know you appreciated the peaceful atmosphere over Easter weekend, the clean facilities, and the care we put into maintaining the grounds. We’re especially glad you and your dogs enjoyed the walking areas and that you spotted our friendly resident rabbits!
Thank you also for mentioning the service at the bar and reception—it really means a lot to the team. We’re pleased you found some great food locally too; The Travellers Rest is a fantastic choice.
We completely understand that the peaceful, rural setting may not suit everyone, but we’re so glad it was just what you were looking for. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!
Best wishes,
The Springhouse Team

Liked: The site was in excellent condition , the staff in the reception were great as were the staff and home owners who held a barbecue on the sat and the Easter egg hunt on the Sunday , could not fault anyone , the shower block was well looked after and clean
Disliked: The small road leading to the site was full of deep pot holes so made the drive in a bit difficult to manage , the site did say it’s getting fixed soon though

Liked: We had an amazing stay in our own caravan on one of the non awning pitches. The site is peaceful and welcoming. My children immediately made friends with other children on site, ensuring they were well occupied and entertained during the evenings after days out.
The site is well equipped for children. The play park is brilliant and has equipment for children of all ages. The attached football pitch is well used and was very much enjoyed by my children. There is also a field area above the football pitch which my son and husband enjoyed flying their remote control aeroplanes on. Whilst the site is large it feels very safe. I was happy to my children to be out and about, reminding me much of my own childhood holidays in the 90s. Cars travelled very slowly and were respectful of the onsite speed limit.
For the first time since I became a parent, I was able to read three books during my holiday, simply because the children were so well entertained and catered for. We visited the on site bar on our final night. They had a good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. We did not sample the food, however we heard good reviews from others.
The shower block was good. It contained several stand alone toilet cubicles and three complete, lockable shower rooms with toilet and sink. This was helpful for showering the children and there was plenty of space to get them dry and dressed again.
There is an onsite launderette which we did not use. The park reception stocks a small stock of snacks and essentials (we forgot to buy milk!)
Disliked: It would have been useful to have a power outlet in the toilet block for a hairdryer, however we survived without it!
The private access road is not in the best condition, however it can be navigated easily by driving carefully and slowly.

Liked: We had a lovely night at this beautiful, peaceful site. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The toilets and showers were spotless. The warden couldn't have been more helpful.
Other reviews have mentioned the access road, the condition of this road is fine it is a narrow road which you would expect on a rural site. I would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
Disliked: I think the opening timings that the bar/restaurant should be advertised on pitch up.
