Paxton House Caravan Park

Positiv Amazing place, very calm, huge spaces. I love the area, the estate and did do a guided tour of the house this time. It is worth it! Also you can walk with the dogs on the estate and alongside the river. The small cafe is so cute build in the former stables, serves tasty food and great cake.

Positiv Beautifully laid out level spacious pitches in the historic walled garden, we loved the minimal lighting, a perfect place for star gazing.
We had access to the grounds, the river walk and the tea rooms.
There are two well appointed toilet/shower rooms.
Will definitely be back.

Positiv Beautiful pitch inside the walled garden of Paxton House. Close to Holy Island and Banburgh Castle if you need a drive out. Great pub/restaurant in Paxton village(Cross Inn) within 20 mins walk. Fabulous food.

There are 30 pitches. Your number is allocated when you check in at the main house. There are two toilets/bathroom within the walled garden - could be a problem when it’s busy. Fresh water top up, waste water disposal, electric hook up, bins etc.

Positiv Good pitch size, clean and tidy. EHU good,
Well set out park. Lovely walks and cycling not far from chain bridge and Berwick upon tweed. Really enjoyed our stay and would like to return in the Summer.

Negativ Having to check in up at the house, busy with cars and pedestrians this could be an issue in the summer.
A bit expensive as there are no facilities
Coffee shop at Paxton house only open for a few hours and quite expensive with limited choice. No WiFi and poor signal.

Positiv Walled garden is a wonderful place to stop.

We have visited on many occasions and is our go- to place. House cafe is well worth a visit.

The other is only of use as a shower

Positiv I love this site. It's the 2nd time we've been there and it's so friendly and clean. Great walks for the dogs and there's a pub that does food only a 10 minute walk away. Looking forward to coming back again soon

Negativ Nothing disliked anything but one improvement would be a longer hose for when you're emptying your waste pod. It's needs tightening at the tap also as you get soaked

Positiv A wonderful spot in the walled garden with generous pitches and a delightful sense of tranquillity. The freedom to walk in the grounds of Paxton House when visitors have gone home is a huge bonus. It felt like a real privilege. No Wi-Fi but a really good mobile signal - and who needs it anyway in such a lovely spot? This could be our best site ever … but currently falls short.
We would love to come back but only with certain flaws fixed (see below).

Negativ The loo was out of action and, according to the notice on the door, had been so since April. We visited in October! I know there is a UK-wide shortage of plumbers but this is ridiculous. There is a functioning loo/shower presumably for disabled use but it meant queues, even though the site was half empty. There is a confusion about the facilities on this site. Pitch Up says there aren’t any but Paxton’s own website says there are. We checked when we visited the house last year and they were clearly functioning. Frankly, had we known the current situation, we would have gone elsewhere. Incidentally, on the fourth day without hand soap, I drove into Berwick and bought some for general use. You don’t have to be a microbiologist to understand what happens to cistern and door handles on an overused facility where no one can clean their hands! Incidentally, we never saw a member of staff in all the time we were there.

Positiv Beautiful grounds, friendly staff.
We attended a car show while there which was a fantastic way to spend our afternoon in the grounds.
We love the walled garden for the campsite.. so peaceful & pretty with the fruit trees around the walls. We come here a few times a year as it’s such lovely place.

Negativ One of the 2 toilets has been out of order for a long time. I realise they don’t advertise they have toilets as they are really there as an extra/ disabled toilet but they are well used so inconvenient when only 1 available.
Also, no dish wash area & I wouldn’t fancy using the wet room shower.
