Really appreciate your review — glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet, and that you found a properly dark spot to pitch up! Not seeing other campers (or much artificial light) is exactly what we aim for.

It was great to meet you both on your cycling trip — Bowhayes tends to work well as a simple, quiet stopover for bikepackers, so it’s good to hear it suited you.

You’d be very welcome back any time you’re passing through and in need of a relaxed night in the orchard.

Positiv I was warmly received by Howard and shown the facilities. He was happy for me to choose my pitch between the apple trees and offered to clear the apples away for me. Wheel barrows were available to borrow to move my camping equipment, but I chose not to use them. The shower was great, I had to hang my head torch on a hook to provide illumination because I showered at night. Howard was interested to know the reason for my visit and learned that I would be returning to the site in the early hours, so he left some lights on at the coffee bar. He also recommended a local pub for my Sunday lunch ,but I was unable to go. The farm cat would visit me when he wasn't too busy hunting.

Good improvisation with the head torch in the shower — not a bad solution! And I’m pleased the coffee deck lights helped when you got back in.

Positiv Really beautiful setting in apple orchard. Howard and Fiona were so friendly and helpful. They recommended local pubs, walks and beaches which we loved. The site had great facilities including hot shower, clean toilets and kitchen.

Positiv Everything! Beautiful setting among the Orchard, bed was super comfy! Bathroom was the most luxurious camping bathroom we've ever used and the kitchen area had everything you needed including milk alternative, oil for cooking and salt and pepper. The owner Howard was really welcoming and helpful (also sells delicious local ciders!) And we were greeted immediately by their lush ginger cat Simba who was so friendly and such a character! It's a great base to explore the local area - lots of suggestions for food, wildlife etc. Provided by owners) - just half hour or so to Lyme Regis and around 10 minutes to Sidmouth. Recommended 100%, we'd love to stay again!

Negativ Nothing! Well maybe the hill up to the tent but that's because I'm unfit and nothing to do with the site 😂 they provide a wheel barrow which was helpful to take our stuff up to the site too!

It’s great to hear you made the most of the location as well. Being tucked away in the orchard within the East Devon National Landscape does give that balance of peace and nature, while still being close to places like Sidmouth, the Jurassic Coast, and plenty to explore locally.

Good effort on the hill too — it keeps things nicely tucked away and quiet, but we’re glad the wheelbarrow helped!

Positiv Clear instructions pre-arrival, a warm welcome from the hosts, a beautiful & secluded pitch, our bell tent was perfectly clean and well furnished. The bed was v cosy & comfortable. The nearby camp kitchen was really handy, toilets & showers were clean. A firepit rounded off the whole experience. Location is great, lots of things to see & do nearby. We hope to be back!

Positiv You camp in-between the orchard trees, it's very beautiful. Shower was amazing, it was wild with the luxury of hot water. Plum and pear trees dotted around. We saw some deers and heard owls, a peaceful break from everyday life. So much to do in the surrounding area. We would love to come back. Thankyou!

Negativ We pitched up on a bit of a slope, not thinking it was as much of a slope initially . We noticed this a lot at night time. However I accept this was 100% our fault.

Good spot on the slope — there are some flatter pitches tucked in between the trees, so if you come back just give us a shout when you arrive and we’ll help you find the best spot.
