Tilføj oplysninger om din virksomhedA multilingual family in the village of Galambok (in actual fact, a suburb of the spa town of Zalakaros, which is a five-minute drive away) have opened up the garden of their home to visitors keen to explore western Hungary or the shores of Lake Balaton (25 minutes’ drive).
Zahradni Stellplatz Galambok is a small, peaceful spot with grassy pitches shaded by mature walnut trees. It’s a simple site, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any facilities here. Indeed, the owners have made sure that their guests have most mod cons, starting with optional electric hook-up (for a daily fee), toilets (including a chemical one) and hot-water showers. However, be aware that there are no washing-up facilities (and there is only cold water in the sink).
A barbecue is available for guest use, and the shops are only a short walk away, in the centre of the village. If you fancy sampling Hungarian cuisine, the nearest restaurant is on the shore of the village fishing pond (10 minutes’ walk), and there are numerous dining options in Zalakaros.
The local area is well equipped for cyclists, with bike paths leading all the way to Lake Balaton (about one and a half hour by bike). If that feels like a bike ride too far, closer attractions include Madárvárta, a birdwatching area on the shores of the Kis-Balaton lake (literally, Little Balaton; 50 minutes by bike or 20 by car), where there are also the nature trails of Kányavári Island.

Lokale seværdigheder
Buffalo Reserve Zalakomár (15 minutes’ drive) is home to more than just buffalo (though they are the stars of the show, with a festival in their honour in early summer), with resident goats and donkeys, plus inquisitive prairie dogs popping up from the ground. Birdwatching hides are set up to spot great crested grebes.
With indoor and outdoor attractions, Bobo Fun Park (half an hour) is a great spot to let the kids burn a little energy. They can have a go at the climbing walls, navigate the rope course, or bounce on the trampolines. There’s lots for the adults to get stuck into, too, including a laser labyrinth and a challenging ninja course.
Keszthely (35 minutes) is a pretty city with the elegant Festetics Palace, which dates from the 1740s and comes with splendid formal gardens and the Hunting and Coach museums. The Keszthely Móló, part of a park with flower-lined paths and a Ferris wheel, stretches right into Lake Balaton.
