If you're anywhere in northern Slovenia – or indeed, anywhere in Slovenia – this place is a bit of a must. Šenkova Domačija Tourist Farm near Zgornje Jezersko is among the valleys and mountains of the Kamnik–Savinja Alps, close to the border with Austria, and in stunning surrounds with mountain backdrops and open space aplenty: this is where you pause for a minute to gape at the site pics... This lush place is in a remote and rural spot, typical of Slovenian mountain settlements where folk have farmed for centuries. Central to the site are the eight homestead buildings, the main one of which dates back to 1517 and is now a protected national heritage building. As the name might hint, this is a tourist farm settlement too: cows, sheep, chickens, ducks, a dog and the site cats all wander around here; guests can also saddle up on the resident horses for guided hacks around the farm or longer treks into the mountains. The campsite part of the farm is on a meadow under old ash trees, with spectacular views of the mountains. Facilities include toilets and hot showers, a springwater basin, a communal kitchen with tables, seating and a fridge, and a farm restaurant serving homemade breakfasts and dinners. There's also a communal campfire area: this is one place where one must certainly sit outside and see the stars... And finally? You can even get married at Šenkova Domačija – and what a pretty place it is to get hitched too.

Liked Miejsce, gdzie natura mówi szeptem.
To miejsce to prawdziwy raj dla miłośników przyrody i ciszy. Położone wśród malowniczych gór, zachwyca nie tylko spektakularnymi widokami, ale też atmosferą spokoju i harmonii. Rozległe polany, pełne soczystej zieleni, aż proszą się o długi spacer boso po trawie. Wszechobecna natura wciąga – można dosłownie zatrzymać się i wsłuchać w jej rytm, słysząc delikatny szum potoku płynącego nieopodal.

Jedną z największych atrakcji tego miejsca są zwierzęta – swobodnie przechadzające się kozy, byki, barany, psy i koguty z kurami , nadają mu sielskiego, wiejskiego uroku. Ich obecność sprawia, że każdy, kto tu przyjeżdża, może poczuć się częścią czegoś prostego, autentycznego i pięknego.

To idealna przestrzeń, by odnaleźć spokój, oderwać się od codziennego zgiełku i na nowo połączyć się z naturą. Bez wątpienia – miejsce fantastyczne, do którego chce się wracać ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Liked Stunning views from this beautiful farm campsite. Lovely to have dogs, hens, ducks, goats and sheep around. Evening meal was very good, and good value. Facilities ok and fitting for a ´green´ site.

Disliked We ended up being charged more than the price quoted on Pitchup. Not sure why but we did not complain because we had enjoyed our stay. Perhaps something to watch out for.

Local attractions

The helpful team can sort you out with info and routes around the surrounding mountains, ski areas and hiking paths for guided or self guided tours. Venture out into the mountains for as long or short a hike as you want; plenty of trails are nearby for all abilities and lengths of walk. A recommended and fairly easy route is to the Češka koča mountain hut, one of the most popular hiking destinations in Jezersko for over a century. You could also tackle the peaks of the Karavanke range, opposite the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, which are reachable all year round via routes to Goli vrh, Pristovški storžič, Virnikov Grintovec and Stegovnik. Around 15 kilometres of cross country skiing trails are nearby in the Ravenska Kočna valley: hire ski kit at the farm if you'd like to partake.
