On a peaceful farm by the Aure river, surrounded by the lush agricultural landscape of Calvados, Aire de la Ferme Froide is a pretty sweet spot to explore this historic area of northern France. Remote it might feel, but the site is less than 10 kilometres from Bayeux (easily accessed via the nearby D67) and about a half-hour drive from the coast. And what a coast this is. The wide beaches are excellent for building sandcastles and running around in an attempt to fly kites (cue – one would hope – happy children); however, in 1944 these sandy stretches were also the theatre for the Allied invasion of Normandy, which means that there’s a lot to pique the interest of grown-ups (or of anyone who’s into World War II history). This includes museums like the Memorial Museum of Omaha Beach (25 minutes) and memorials like the British Normandy Memorial (half an hour), as well as the beaches themselves – from Omaha to Utah (half an hour’s drive and 50 minutes, respectively). Back at the site, a game of pétanque or communing with the farm animals (gentle cows and inquisitive goats, among others) ought to help raise your spirits after a day visiting sombre historical landmarks. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are well behaved and kept on a lead around the livestock. Owners Mickael and Stéphanie are on hand to suggest alternative activities (hot-air balloon flight, anyone?) and sights, from the early 13th-century Mondaye Abbey (five minutes, or a 20-minute walk) to amusement parks like Bayeux AVENTURE (15 minutes).

Disliked Only 1 small toilet and 3 showers none of which are properly constructed. This is a cash-only campsite which does not inspire confidence.

Liked Wir beide und unser Hund haben die Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit des Platzes sehr genossen. Nach Ausflügen zu den Sehens- und Denkwürdigkeiten dieser Gegend konnten wir auf dem Platz gut runterkommen.
Wie gesagt, in unserem Camper hat wir alles Notwendige. Und Entsorgungsmöglichkeit für unsere Toilettenkassette gab es auch - sehr rustikal aber effektiv.
Die 1 Dusche war originell in einem umgebauten Kühlelement untergebracht.

Disliked Um in Zukunft Missverständnisse und ggf. Doppelbelegungen von einzelnen Parzellen zu vermeiden, sollten die Betreiber vielleicht eine eindeutigere und unverrückbare Markierung der Parzellen in Erwägung ziehen.

Liked Schöner Campingplatz, gut gelegen um die Sehenswürdigkeiten zu besichtigen.
Buchung usw. auch vor Ort hat alles super funktioniert. Für einen Zwischenstopp von 2 bis 3 Tagen ausreichend.

Disliked Sanitäranlage unzureichend und deutlich verbesserungsfähig. Eine Toilette für gesamten Platz ist bei guter Belegung zu wenig.

Disliked Wir fanden es furchtbar. Es gab eine einzige Toilette für ca. 50 Leute. Da herrschte rein gar keine Privatsphäre. Seitlich konnte man durch die Holzpaneele reinsehen. Dreckig, Schamhaare vom Vorgänger auf der Schüssel. Kein Klopapier. Die Dusche war genauso widerwärtig. Englisch wird hier überhaupt nicht gesprochen. Da Nachbar unerlaubt sein Stromkabel eingesteckt hatte, war kein Platz mehr für unseres. Die Campingplatzdame meinte wir könnten das Kabel einfach rausziehen. Sorry, aber es ist als Gast nicht unsere Aufgabe solche Dinge eigenständig zu regeln. Zum Glück waren wir nur auf der Durchreise und haben hier nur eine Nacht verbracht. An jeder Raststätte lässt sich da kostenfrei besser übernachten!

Liked Deze plek héeft iets. Als je binnenrijdt is het op het eerste gezicht misschien wel eerg klein maar ik heb het hier zo fijn gehad. Een mooie mix van allerlei nationaliteiten, van gezinnen, stellen tot alleenreizenden, tentjes, campers en caravans. Heel, heel
fijn! Ik heb zelfs een extra nacht geboekt. Op de fiets naar Bayeux ( 30 min)en Port de besssin ( 1 uur) is goed re doen, veel ffietspaden ook rond de stad.
Fijn dat je chemisch toilet kunt lozen ook. En er is een ruimte waar je kunt binnen zitten voor als je met een tentje bent en het regent.
En tot slot: voor de prijs hoef je het zeker niet te laten!

Disliked Al vaker gezegd maar 1 toilet en 1 douche op 26 plaatsen is echt weinig. Ik had ook graag elektriciteit gehad maar dat is maar bij een paar plaatsen( zonder ging ook goed tot de laatste bewolkte dag en daardoor minder elektra van het zonnepaneel. )

Disliked Nothing to like. Terrible site. 1 toilet for all the pitches. No toilet paper or soap. The shower was something out of a horror film like a converted catering fridge.
