Five spacious pitches

  • Small adults-only campsite in the village of Llanystumdwy, North Wales
  • A 15-minute drive to Snowdonia National Park; 25 minutes to Caernarfon
  • Well-maintained grass pitches and shower block; communal dining area
Family-run The Paddocks Caravan and Camping is a small and ultra-organised site with well-maintained, flat and spacious pitches in north Wales. It’s less than five minutes’ drive to the beach at Criccieth, and around half an hour to the imposing castles at Harlech and Caernarfon, making this a cracking adults-only base from which to explore the Llŷn Peninsula. It's a 10-minute trip by car to the wide, south-facing sands at Pwllheli, a former haunt of smugglers and pirates. You'll find it quite a bit calmer these days, especially if you follow the fab Llŷn Peninsula Coastal Path round the peninsula for views and wildlife and splendid sea air. Sandcastles, paddling and rockpool exploration are all there for the taking. If you’d rather ditch the car, a bus stop is five minutes’ walk away, or you can explore on two legs – perhaps a good place to start is the local village of Llanystumdwy (five minutes’ walk), as it’s the burial place of former Prime Minister David Lloyd George. You can see his grave and visit a small museum, and afterwards stroll down the banks of the scenic River Dwyfor or pop into the pub for a pint. Gleaming facilities on site include a well-lit shower block with two private bathrooms (each containing a large shower, wash-hand basin and toilet), plus a separate adjacent shower with a dressing room and a hair dryer. Nearby is a covered communal area with a table and seating, plus two washing-up sinks, a fridge-freezer, a separate drinks fridge, a microwave, toaster and a kettle. There's also a phone-charging point. Firepits and barbecues are allowed, but they must be raised off the ground and set up on one of the concrete slabs provided. Small chimineas and barbecues are available for nightly hire on site, and you can buy logs and charcoal here too. Please note that parties are not permitted – this is a quiet site.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Wow, what a lovely camp site. The grass was soft and flat and very well kept, the facilities were amazing. Showers and toilets were absolutely spotless all the time and the water was nice and hot. Really nice communal kitchen area with everything you would need. The option to buy tea/coffee/eggs was nice too. There was also wifi that worked really well all over the site. We would definitely stay again.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Stayed in our pod on this lovely campsite. Clean bathrooms and well-organised amenities. Generally in a quiet location and very convenient to get everywhere. Many other campers also had dogs, but the campsite was set up that everyone had enough space between pitches. Lovely campsite owners, very welcoming and approachable. Highly recommend this site!

Disliked: This is a tiny thing and personal to me, but the multiple air fresheners in each bathrooms set off my asthma a little.

Liked: The lady owner was very friendly and would go above and beyond if she could help. We forgot onions and that was mentioned in passing she came and asked as she had to go out would you like me to pick some up. The site was very well maintained and the space between pitches was very large. The have also given a small but ample dog walking area The facilities were of a high standard (see pictures) and kept extremely clean. We have already booked for next year.
