  • Family-run Somerset campsite near Bridgwater, with easy M5 access
  • A 15-minute drive to the Quantock Hills, and 20 to Burnham-on-Sea
  • Modern showers, communal kitchen and dog run; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Looking for a quiet, family-orientated caravan park with generous-sized pitches in Somerset? Your search is over, for Newton Brook Caravan and Camping near Bridgwater is that place. It’s a friendly spot to overnight (it’s a short drive from Junction 24 of the M5 motorway) if you’re heading to Cornwall, or for longer stays if you’d like to make further forays into Somerset. Facilities to make life easy for families on site are tiptop, with a spotless, contemporary shower and loo block, plus a communal kitchen with fridges, microwave and washing-up sinks to make rustling up supper a breeze. North Petherton village (10 minutes’ drive) is the spot for picking up essentials in the convenience store (and it has a sprinkling of pubs and cafés if cooking is off limits on your holiday). As well as welcoming kids – there’s green space on site to play around safely and a smartly kitted-out games room to keep everybody occupied – the park is dog-centric too. Any canine with a zoomie attack can run around in the enclosed field, and there are walks aplenty along the Taunton Bridgwater Canal to tire everybody out (dog included). The park is located right next to a family farm, so you can often spot cattle and sheep grazing contentedly in surrounding fields, with the chance to see gambolling lambs in early spring and calves a bit later in the year.

Liked: Super friendly. I’m a solo mama to a toddler and the warm welcome made my son feel very comfortable. Very clean and lots of space around our pitch for my son to play. Drinking water tap on each pitch was tasted really nice. Showers were nice and hot! I would definitely stop again!

Electric grass pitch

Liked: We spent one night here and really enjoyed the place. The toilets were very clean, and there was a guy who explained the site to us as soon as we arrived. There's also a playroom for kids, which was a bonus. The location is really close to the M5. We stayed for one night on our way back from Cornwall to Liverpool. It's also close to Kelvi, where we spent some time looking fossils.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: A very friendly welcome to a great quiet site. The standards of the site, especially the toilets/showers (even displays of fresh flowers in the Ladies block) and shared kitchen area, were exceptional. Very dog friendly with a specific dog run area.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Everything, site was clean, tidy, quiet. Loved the fresh flowers in the ladies shower and toilet room. Staff were so lovely. They even took us for a tour around the farm as my kids love animals and farm machinery.

Disliked: Nothing major just the men’s showers had to be held on otherwise they went off.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The friendly greeting on arrival was absolutely fantastic. The site was immaculate. The pitch was generous, size wise, With water and electric in situ. When parked up, i explored the amenities and was very impressed by what i found. The Toilets and showers were fantastic, modern, clean, spacious and well kept. There was also a laundry with 3 washers and 3 driers and a wash room for cutlery, plates etc that was also immaculately kept. It had plenty of sinks for multiple people to use at the same time. There was also a games room that had everything needed to keep adults and kids alike, amused for hours on end. I’ll definitely be back.

Disliked: My only gripe is that, it should’ve had more showers and toilets.

Rather explore on foot? There's plenty of choice for walkers around here, with the gorgeous Quantock Hills (15 minutes) or Blackdown Hills Areas of Outstanding Nature Beauty (40 minutes) riddled with hiking trails. Travel a little further and you can discover the walking routes of wild Exmoor, as well as historic spots like Tarr Steps clapper bridge (an hour) and the pretty town of Dulverton (50 minutes). Other places you might like to consider exploring are Wells (45 minutes), with its spectacular cathedral and castle, or funky little Glastonbury (40 minutes), awash with hippy shops and cute little cafés.
