  • Family and couples' site within walking distance of Newquay town
  • Owned and run by the same family for over 60 years
  • Pool, fishing ponds, play area, sandpit and shop
Cornwall? Newquay? But of course. Anyone having a hol in Cornwall at any time should pitch up near Newquay at some point: for famed surfing beaches, lively vibe, Newquay Zoo, the Blue Reef Aquarium… and easy access to the rest of the north Cornish coast as well as the beaches down south. And if you're looking for a family base within walking distance of Newquay? Pitch up at popular and friendly Trencreek Holiday Park, owned and run in the quiet village of Trencreek by the same family for over 60 years. This pretty and well-maintained park is a mere mile from Newquay town centre and five minutes' walk away from a regular bus route, passing tennis courts, swimming pools and Newquay Zoo on the way into town. Trencreek is a family and couples-only holiday park, where the family team here make their mission to provide a welcoming vibe and to keep all amenities to spotless standards. Everything's kept secure here: access is by car number plate recognition barriers, so only those booked on site are allowed in. Spend your days lazing by the heated outdoor pool or casting off – for free – in the coarse fishing ponds, or let the kids loose at the play area, sandpit and games room. By night, you could settle down for a barbecue by your pitch: an excellently-stocked shop is on site, a farm shop is within five minutes' walk and a supermarket is a mile away.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (six person)

Liked Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Great little bar and surrounding area, lovely little pool for the kids. Small hidden gem of a campsite and would definitely visit again now we realise we could infact bring our van.

Disliked The only major disappointment for us was that it clearly states no commercial vehicles when booking. So instead of taking my van which is my only form of transport (non sign written but still classed as a commercial vehicle) we opted to hire a car. This was expensive and a struggle with fitting everything we needed for our family (had to leave things behind) Only to find upon arrival that 95% of vehicles on site were infact commercial vans, some sign written, some with chevrons and beacons we seen the works. Which seemed very unfair after the inconvenience we had encountered. Why have the rules if you don't enforce them?

The only other niggle was that it claims a 20 minute woodland walk into town, we found it to be more of a 50 minute walk with multiple sets of very steep steps which my partner and child struggled with, so after discovering this we opted for taxis. At around £15 each way was a much better option.

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (four person)

Liked Very accessible place and quite close to the beach. Shop on a site was helpful as well. ☺️

Disliked Toilets/showers. 🤦🏼‍♀️ There was a cleaning service, but one person is not able to clean after hundreds. Cleaning service is to MAINTAIN the state, but people should clean after themselves.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch (six person)

Liked The camp site was amazing
My son loved the outdoor pool and loved the fact it was open till 8pm
The ladies who dealt with our holiday and even allowed us to add extra days were amazing....
The husband loved the fishing pond being a keen fisherman so win win for both the men 😄

Disliked The only thing I disliked was how close the neighbours in the tents were, tent pegs were nearly touching

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (four person)

Liked Excellent pitch size in a lovely quiet area down by the ponds (108).
Quiet campsite, good amount of showers and we never had to wait.
Cheesy chips from the cafe were a good late evening hit with the teenagers in our group.
Everything was well priced, good stock of emergency items in the onsite shop should you need them.
Great kids facilities with the pool and climbing area, would have loved this when our children were younger.
Lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for you and always had a smile.

Disliked My husband would have loved there to have been sports on in the bar 🤣 Leeds Utd first match of the season back at the top was on his phone. 🤣

Non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch (four person)

Liked Site was well maintained and tidy, facilities were clean and the staff were lovely.

Disliked The campsite is very loud late into the night. They only allow you to use their WiFi free for 10 minutes, it was cheaper to use phone data all week.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked Absolutely fabulous site. Very traditional with everything you'd ever need for a wonderful Cornish holiday. Grounds Absolutely beautifully kept and all facilities are spotless with great customer service. It is a cash only site but this helps to kerp costs down for drinks and snacks. Only 1 mile walk into Newquay too. If you want a modern resort best not choose this site but we love the traditional vibe. Booked a full week for next year.

Local attractions

Set off on foot or take the local bus for the mile-long journey into Newquay, one of the most famed spots in all the country for surfing and surf schools as well as the surfing tournaments at Fistral beach. Loads of other Newquay options await if the thought of boards bores you: have a potter around the zoo or aquarium, bask on some of the seven miles of golden sandy beach, or take the Newquay Discovery Trail on a gentle meander through town. The South West Coast Path runs through town too on its 603-mile meander from Minehead to Poole; there's an easy trail of less than a mile to Bedruthan Steps if you want to tackle the path with the kids. Just outside Newquay, Trenance Gardens and Leisure Park is a spectacular spot for a family day out, with Trenance Leisure Park and skate park, a boating lake and pedalo hire, and peaceful times afterwards among the trees, flowers and rose bushes of Trenance Gardens. The park is 10 minutes' walk from Trencreek. For day trips, try Truro (25 minutes' drive), Padstow (30 minutes), the Eden Project (35 minutes) and the National Maritime Museum at Falmouth (50 minutes).
