Views from the pods

  • Peaceful seaview site on the north Cornwall coast
  • Direct access to the South West Coast Path
  • Beach nearby; surfing and watersports 20 minutes by car
Seeking sea views, clifftop paths, cracking good Cornish pubs and surf beaches? Take a look at Caradoc of Tregardock, on the north Cornwall coast surrounded by miles of coastline, historic seaside villages, moors, river valleys, stately homes and visitor attractions. Accessed by a narrow lane with no through traffic, and right on the edge of the land overlooking the Atlantic, the site sits alongside a remote section of the South West Coast Path, linking this fab property to Port Gaverne's pubs, restaurants and speciality shops 10 minutes' drive away and to the 14th-century fishing village of Port Isaac and medieval Boscastle, 15 minutes away. Take the footpath from the site through meadows of wildflowers and flocks of sheep down the hill for strolls, paddles, swims and rockpooling on the secluded beach; beaches further afield include Trebarwith Strand, Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Rock, all within around 20 minutes' drive. Amenities include a hot shower, a washbasin and a toilet. It's recommended that you bring a torch for dark evenings and walking boots or wellies in case of wet weather.

What customers say

This campsite is praised for its stunning, peaceful location with beautiful sea views, ideal for quiet getaways and coastal walks. Pods are described as clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with lighting and charging facilities. Facilities are generally found to be clean and functional, though basic. The site's secluded nature and privacy are highlighted. Some guests mention the distance to toilets, the lack of Wi-Fi being a positive for family time, and advise bringing appropriate footwear for paths. Overall, guests found it to be great value and highly recommended.

Camping pod (four person)

Liked We booked a short stay in the family pod and LOVED it. The pod was clean, dry and snug, very handy as we had a mixed bag of weather. Facilities were basic but they were absolutely as described so DO read carefully if that's not your thing. For us it was fab, clean, a lovely hot shower, spotless place to wash up, a functional toilet etc. Lovely and tranquil spot too. Unbeatable view and just a breath of fresh air. Great price too for a last min family escape. Having severe allergies to most animals, finding somewhere pet hair free was an absolute bonus too. Hugo was fast to respond to my questions. We weren't expecting brilliant wifi but we had 0 issues with it during our stay.

Disliked Nothing to dislike. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Liked Very honest review
Prior to arrival we were sent arrival details which were great, we found the place no problem. We were allowed to arrive early as it was ready.

We liked
The view
The pod was warm and cosy
Quiet

Disliked Disliked
Toilets, although clean was a pump system, the toilet was inside a shed and the door and window did not shut correctly so the outside world could see you and you could see out
The pod bed, difficult to understand from the pitch up info but, there isn't one, it's just two mattresses and that's not what we expected, we would have brought our camping bed.
The electric was only 12volt and solar panels, so we didn't even try to plug our kettle in for a drink, although I had messaged to ask if we could but had no reply.
The distance from pod 3 to the top of the field to use the toilet was such a long distance although I reality it was probably a 1-2 min walk but was uphill.
Shower, I didn't even bother as the door to the container it was in would not shut therefore I didn't feel safe to try it, the shower itself looked old with the ceiling falling apart and looking very old.

Overall, watching the sunset looking over the ocean was nice and from our usual busy Warden life it was a break away but this would not be a return choice for us.

It really was not worth the £40 we spent for one night for just a roof over your head. Honestly could not decide if I would pay £20 and my husband said £30!

From the manager: The review system is supposed to respect the experiences and expectations of guests using a particular establishment. You chose a micro campsite. This type of accommodation with a loo rather too far for you to walk to has led to your rather dim view of your experience here.
The shower and loos are simple and not brand new so there will be elements that will not be perfect for many. However everything is functional and kept clean.
The camping pods have been in the same position and looked after to give the majority of guests a lovely secure camping experience. On the whole we receive very positive views and those guests have experienced what you have.
During your stay the loos worked the shower was hot then refuse was emptied etc. And you had superb weather!!!!
I do hope you find a lovely campsite that fulfils your expectations.
My pods are probably the cheapest available in Cornwall and are perfectly decent for a comfortable stay.

From the manager: Thank you for your review.
I am surprised that you found we aren't good value for money as £40 pounds per night is the lowest we can possibly go before we'd be operating at a loss. Even parking a car in Cornwall costs about a third of what we charge for an overnight camping pod. Most campsites charge £35 to erect your own two man tent for the night.

Your booking came in very late in the day 18:45 and arrived within the hour so we didn't have the opportunity to send you all the arrival information so as you can easily find pod. Luckily we had a friend staying who helped you.
Of course the facilities will have been used by the other pod users during the day and evening so they won't have serviced specifically for your arrival. Your pod however will have been properly serviced.
Your overall score for a camping pod is low too, I wonder if you are used to the structure of a hotel and not that of a micro-campsite?

Great stay, good location, really enjoyed Thank you

Local attractions

Experienced surfers as well as those who want to learn have plenty to pick from on this coastal stretch, as it's around 20 minutes' drive to Trebarwith and Polzeath and 40 minutes to the surf schools at Harlyn Bay. If you prefer getting round on wheels to waves, it's 40 minutes' drive to Padstow for bike hire and the start of the 17-mile Camel Trail, a former railway line passing through some of north Cornwall's most impressive scenery. Travellers on foot are also welcome on the trail, while all 630 miles of the South West Coast Path can be accessed directly from the site. For those who prefer mooching to a route marching coastal spots like Port Isaac and Tintagel are 15 minutes from the site, the latter home to a castle with a whiff of Arthurian myth, as well as a brewery with tours and tastings. Folk who fancy poking round some more recently occupied palatial piles should aim for the grand National Trust houses and gardens of Pencarrow and Lanhydrock 25 and 40 minutes' drive away. You're also handily placed to reach some of south-west England's big name attractions from here: it's about 45 minutes to the tropical biospheres of the Eden Project and an hour to The Lost Gardens of Heligan, now happily re-found.
