  • Peaceful Hampshire wildlife haven 15 minutes’ drive from Winchester
  • A 10-minute walk from a Watercress Line station
  • Adults-only site with views of the surrounding countryside
Head into the Hampshire countryside for a peaceful adults-only stay at Hampshire Hills – this quiet site close to the village of Bighton (about 15 minutes’ drive from Winchester) is set in a glorious countryside location with the chance to see amazing natural wildlife such as red kites flying overhead, rabbits, a friendly pheasant and glowworms. Spread out over four and a half acres on a hilltop, this site has fabulous views across the surrounding countryside towards the South Downs National Park. There are plenty of walking and cycling routes around so you can get out to see more of that gorgeous greenery (perhaps stopping off at a local country pub along the way…), and a good list of heritage attractions too including Jane Austen's House and the National Trust's Hinton Ampner estate. It’s also easy to walk from here to the Watercress Line station in Ropley for a steam-powered ride through the Hampshire countryside. Alresford, a pretty town with riverside walks and a range of pubs, restaurants and boutique shops, is also just a 10-minute drive away from Hampshire Hills; pick up supplies here to cook on the barbecue or in the kitchen facilities back on site.

What customers say

This adult-only, pet-free campsite is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, stunning views, and immaculately clean facilities. Pitches are described as large and well-spaced, offering generous electric hook-ups. Guests highlight the excellent kitchen area with modern appliances, including an ice maker. While the compact toilet and shower cubicles are noted as a potential drawback for some, their exceptional cleanliness is consistently commended. The site's tranquil rural location is ideal for wildlife spotting and relaxation, with proximity to local attractions like the Watercress Line.

Electric grass pitch

Liked We arrived with a very warm and friendly welcome from the owners. It was our first time here. The pitches are very spacious and the views were beautiful. The showers and toilets were immaculate at all times. The kitchen for guests to use I thought was very impressive with everything you would need and more. We were in a motorhome so we were fully equipped but for those who are in a tent I think would find it a great asset. The weather wasn’t good on the Saturday very windy but didn’t spoil our stay. We walked to have a look at Ropley station which was great.. really enjoyed that. We will definitely be booking again soon.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Fantastic size pitch. Amazing views. Great facilities. Clean and great additional kitchen facilities. Perfectly clean. Can’t fault the site. Great staff. Perfect adult get away. Quite, respectful and great wildlife.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike. The only recommendation I would make is for travellers to bring their own water as due to the area being a hard water area and the council adding something to it, it tastes a little medicinal. Not a deal breaker though. Enjoy 👍

Electric grass pitch

Liked We liked everything about the Too Hoots campsite. The pitch sizes are well laid out and are a very generously size.

Being in a motorhome with an electrical supply meant we were self contained and didn't need the extra immaculate facilities that were available.

Michele made us feel very welcome. We loved the views and the dark starry skies. Highly recommend the site.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Really nice location with spotless facilities and great views. The kitchen area was a great addition - you could camp here and not have to bring any cooking equipment. Super friendly owners.
Individual pitches were nicely mown and the electric hook up was modern and easy to use providing a very generous 10A.

Disliked Toilets were a little bit cramped but amazingly clean as were the showers.

Local attractions

A trip on one of the Watercress Line’s steam trains is like stepping back in time – and you wont have to travel far to do just that, because the line’s Ropley station is only 10 minutes’ walk from your accommodation. Even if you don’t plan to take a ride it’s worth swinging by to see the classic station building and visit the carriage workshop. The heritage doesn’t stop there, of course – there’s a huge amount to explore in Winchester (15 minutes’ drive), and you can also visit Jane Austen’s House or stroll around the elegant house and gardens at the National Trust’s Hinton Ampner (both 10 minutes). Meanwhile, if contemporary art is more your thing, head over to The Sculpture Park (35 minutes), where you can wander among an ever-changing collection of outdoor artworks. Something completely different? Try your hand at tank driving at Juniper Leisure (10 minutes) or sip sparkling wine at Hattingley Valley Wines (15 minutes). You can also see some impressive flying action at the Hawk Conservancy Trust Bird of Prey Centre (40 minutes).
