  • Dog-friendly farm site between Cranborne Chase and the New Forest
  • A 10-minute drive to New Forest Water Park; half an hour to the coast
  • Behind a working water mill and tea rooms; pubs and shops nearby too
Craving watersports, treetop obstacle courses and cycle-easy forest paths? With Cranborne Chase on one side and New Forest on the other, Leat Farm is all about a relaxing retreat in the outdoors. That’s certainly what you get, as the dog-friendly farm site is part of a working smallholding and timber yard on the river Allen with a clear chalk stream, plenty of plant life and a working Stenner sawmill over 100 years old. You'll blend properly into farm life here, thanks to the site’s two horses (Bobbie and Cobby), four goats and a small band of turkeys nearby. At the same time, won't be too far away from the buzz, whether that's the beach or city – within driving distance, there’s Salisbury (half an hour’s drive), Southampton (50 minutes), Bournemouth (half an hour) Christchurch (25 minutes) and Poole (45 minutes). As for the local town, well, from Fordingbridge (five minutes), there’s a fair few adventures to be had and that’s not counting a trip down taste lane (restaurants, shops and pubs are in plentiful supply). There are riding stables, a park, woodland archery and a little further out, the New Forest Water Park (10 minutes) for a good go at wakeboarding, paddleboarding and other watersports. When you’re looking for something a little closer by, the site is behind Alderholt Mill, a working watermill with tearooms (a breakfast spot, maybe?). To the north of the site, there’s also a trout fishery five minutes' drive away.

What customers say

Leat Farm offers a peaceful, back-to-basics camping experience with spacious pitches and beautiful natural surroundings, including a stream and nearby wildlife. Guests consistently praise the friendly and helpful owners. Basic but generally clean toilet and shower facilities are available, though some reviews mention issues with lighting and the number of working showers during busy periods. The site is highly recommended for families and those seeking a relaxed, traditional camping getaway.

Liked We have had the best most relaxing time at Leat Farm
Our first camping experience
Beautiful way to get back to nature, kids off tech, kayaking in the stream (boats provided) tennis, cricket, all in the field.
Bob the cob horse is beautiful with other animals to see too.
Donna was just amazing so friendly, accommodating and super helpful.
Every afternoon we were offered a bin bag, fire pit, more wood for thr fire.
Children were given tennis bat, cricket bats, balls to use during their stay.

Everything was just super relaxing and chilled, as you want it to be.

Only one shower but with 70 plus people there was never a queue for this or the toilets.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Being able to have a fire pit. The owner came around selling logs each night.
The pitch was cheap (£50 for two nights). The owner was lovely and friendly.

Disliked Fairly basis amenities - only one shower and three toilets which weren’t overly clean but the pitch was cheap and we could have a fire. You get what you pay for.

Liked Another Wonderful Weekend at Leat Farm!

We had yet another lovely weekend at this beautiful campsite. Leat Farm continues to impress with its excellent accommodations — everything is well-maintained, and the hot showers truly make a difference after a day of exploring.

The kids absolutely loved it! There's plenty of open space for them to run around freely, and the nearby hiking trails offer stunning views and encounters with local wildlife. The river is a real highlight — peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a bit of adventure or relaxation.

Overall, it's a fantastic spot for families looking to enjoy nature in a safe and welcoming environment. We’ll definitely be coming back again!
