What customers say

This well-maintained campsite boasts an excellent location, ideal for exploring Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, with convenient bus links. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the spacious pitches. The on-site cafe/bar is a popular addition, as is the large dog walking field. Minor criticisms include the metered electricity system and some pitches being less level.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Lovely site in a quiet area, easy reach of the Cleveland way and Cinder path. Bus stop nearby and a local pub that does delicious food.

Disliked Having to buy electric tokens, not the expense (it was cheap) but the having to keep an eye on it, was worried if we went out for the day the fridge would run out of power and would lose everything.
Neighbours - every afternoon when we trying to chill in the lovely sunshine someone, presumably a resident of the site had the TV on VERY loudly and we had to listen to 'The Chase'+ others. It was so loud we could here every word, destroyed the piece and quiet, even above any kids noise.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked Site situation is ideal for exploring the Whitby area and within walking distance of both Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby and is on a regular bus route into Whitby. We had a lovely welcome by very friendly staff who were extremely accommodating. The site is very well maintained and kept clean. The bar was lovely with both indoor and outdoor seating areas and the food looked very nice, although we did not eat on site. The dog exercise field was the best we have seen being large, clean and well cut with defined walkways and waste bins at the entrance. Our dog would have stayed forever!

Electric optional grass tent pitch (small)

Liked Friendly staff.

Disliked The pitches were completely unlevel, making it very difficult to set up. The Wi-Fi was non-existent in the camping area, and there was only one set of toilets and showers, located the furthest away from the pitches. Overall, the facilities were quite inconvenient.

Electric optional gravel and hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked We had a great time here for three nights . Plenty to do around the area . Bus was a bit hit and miss . Taxis were cheaper that the bus for us three adults. Will definitely be back again

Disliked Shop didn’t have much in tbh. For such a rural site some fresh bits and bobs would be nice . Bread or eggs etc .

Local attractions

York House Caravan Park is nicely located on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park. It's a short drive from here to Robin Hood’s Bay (five minutes’ drive), where ghost walks tell the story of times gone by. For a small taste of the village's smugglers' history, head to the museum. For hikers, there are fine choices around such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way (five minutes) through the North York Moors, and the Coast to Coast Path (five minutes) ending at Robin Hood’s Bay. Those who prefer to travel at higher speeds can take the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from the station in Whitby (10 minutes) – after spending some time exploring the famed abbey, of course. Goathland (20 minutes) is a popular destination – it's the home of the TV series 'Heartbeat' and starred in the Harry Potter films too. There are so, so, so many pretty spots along the coast that you might find it hard to choose where to spend your time. However, Ravenscar (20 minutes), a pretty coastal village with splendid cliffs, and the more ‘happening’ Scarborough (half an hour) are some very nice picks.
