  • Dog-friendly park five miles from Scarborough and 2.5 from Filey
  • Award-winning amenities block, family bathroom and launderette
  • Indoor heated pool, lounge bar, family bar, play area and supermarket
Feel free as a bird at award-winning Crows Nest Caravan Park between Scarborough and Filey – this well-maintained place is roomy, green and has sea views overlooking gorgeous Gristhorpe Bay and Scarborough Castle. Crows Nest is five miles from Scarborough and two and a half miles from Filey, but if you’re taking a break from the seaside/ exploring the North Yorkshire coast there’s loads to do on site too: a lounge bar with entertainment in peak season to suit all ages and tastes, a family bar with pool tables, a games room, a play area for little fledglings and a heated indoor pool with poolside assistants during high season. The award-winning amenities block a short walk from the tent field has free hot showers, wash basins, hairdryers and socket/shaver points, and there are also family bathrooms and a disabled-access shower room. Elsewhere on site there’s a washing-up area, launderette, chemical disposal point and well-stocked supermarket. And, as you can’t come to the coast and not have fish and chips, there’s also a chippy takeaway open in high season (but they do have more fish and chips in Scarborough too). Bringing the family friend? Crows Nest Caravan Park is dog-friendly and dogs are allowed in the conservatory area of the lounge bar; there's also a dog park on site.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Really liked the pool and the facilities in general. Staff were lovely. And as it was out of school holiday time it was very peaceful

Disliked: The weather was good for us but as it's on top of the cliff it could potentially be very windy

Lower area fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (super)

Liked: Lovely site , lots to do and plenty of space. Fab dog field but fence and gate has huge gaps so no good for clever escape artists thankfully our dog isn’t the brightest 😂

Disliked: Swimming pool showers are useless they are like ice and that’s not exaggerating and we tried 3 different nights after swimming hoping it was a one off they are that cold I didn’t let the kids use them. Also hand drier in the ladies near the front is rubbish , I’m asthmatic and would blow out more air that it 😂

Lower area fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (super)

Liked: Friendly staff. Fabulous site with a whole host of amenities - swimming pool with slides, playground, fields to play in, beachside walk, bar, arcade, fish and chip shop. Fantastic location - only a short trip from Scarborough.

Our second time at this site and can't fault it.

Disliked: The shower blocks differ in quality. The block further up seems to be more modern and of a better design. The block midway down felt more dated with no area to place your things when in the shower

Superior 2 bedroom static caravan (no pets)

Liked: Very clean and tidy, well kept site. I went here for the first time with my wife and 2 kids. My children loved the park. Big enough for them to play there for hours. The fish and chip shop on site is delicious. Timings vary but it's not to busy throughout the day. The bar onsite is spacious and reasonably priced. There is a small amusement games room for the older young ones that we also liked. The pool is a small warm indoor pool with some fun slides and family changing rooms. My kids loved it. Just off site, about 10min walk, is a very nice family friendly pub that does great food. It also has a play park for the kids. The site is nicely located 10 min drive away from Scarborough town center where there is loads to do. We went for the day.

Disliked: The only thing I found slightly anoying was that I needed to bring my own bedding and towels. Not sure if that's common for caravans as I'm knew to it.

Upper area fully-serviced gravel touring pitch (super)

Liked: Could not fault the site one bit. We had such an amazing time. It’s first time being in a motor home and staying at site and we loaded it

Disliked: Only issue was showers you had to hold them which made things a little hard with small children so ended up a little more soaked trying to get them washed but that is all

Local attractions

Leave the car behind: buses running between Scarborough and Bridlington pick up from the end of the Crows Nest Caravan Park drive and discount day tickets are available to keep more money for seaside rock. The kids will probably clamour first for Scarborough: there are the North Bay and South Bay beaches to bounce around as well as the traditional seaside fairground and donkey rides. But Scarborough’s also a hotspot for culture vultures, with the Scarborough Open Air Theatre, Scarborough Art Gallery and Rotunda Museum alongside regular festivals and events throughout the year. Fab Filey is even closer: this Edwardian town has a five-mile stretch of sand and is backed by the peninsula and cliffs of Filey Brigg – this is the place to birdwatch and wildlife spot, with rockpools along the beach and many species of birds and beasts to see all year round. The 110-mile Cleveland Way starts here for hiking your way around Yorkshire’s history and heritage: Scarborough Castle, Whitby Abbey and Dracula tales, Mount Grace Priory and Rievaulx Abbey are all along the route. Away from the seaside and vampires, puff between Whitby and Pickering on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, veer between villages in the North York Moors National Park or get citified around York and Hull, all within easy driving distance of Crows Nest.
