Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, a mile from Sandringham Estate and a 10-minute drive from the beaches in Heacham and Hunstanton. At this well-maintained site, the staff aim to go out of their way to make sure that everyone's comfortable. There's something for everyone; kids tend to love the open space – teams can often be seen laughing over a game of football or other games – and spending hours on the play equipment. Meanwhile, all ages can unwind at the all-weather bar and terrace at Bens Bar, which is open at peak times for snacks, draught beer and other delicious drinks; live sports are also shown here. Dogs (up to two per booking) are very welcome and even get access to their own dedicated off-lead walking area and warm dog wash. Other on-site facilities include luxury individual bathrooms (each with a toilet, sink and shower), electric vehicle charging points and gas bottle sales. Takeaway food is served on site during peak times. At other times, simply stroll along to the two dog-friendly village pubs within walking distance. There are plenty of excellent walks and cycling paths from the site, with the Sandringham Visitor Centre only 20 minutes' walk away; hire a bicycle on site to get around quicker. Bus stops are nearby in Dersingham.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Group bookings of 10 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • A cable measuring at least 15 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
  • The maximum tent size allowed is 5m x 6m. Electric is operated by a fair usage policy, through a smart meter system. Pricing is dependent on the time of year, This is between 8 & 12 KWh's per day. The electricity is charged at .22p per kw. They get their free usage per day and if they go over then they are charged and monies taken automatically at the end of their stay.

Liked So quiet and peaceful and beautiful and well kept. Staff are so polite too. Well maintained. Feels like a little slice of heaven despite being so close to the main road and towns and stuff. I love this site so very much.

Oh I live in Dereham, I have stayed at this site over 7 times. I go other places but to get away quickly this is my go to.

Disliked Nothing to dislike at all.

Liked Excellent clean and tidy site with great size pitches. Great walks directly from the site so able to keep travelling down.

Disliked A couple of the showers were very difficult to get any hot water from but others were spot on.

Excellent site but hated the metered electricity supply.

Liked Really efficient receptionist who gave us laminated walking maps to snettisham beach and also the royal Sandringham estate. Very clean and warm showers. Individual rooms for showering etc. (Motel style) My daughter liked the music in the shower rooms. Lovely clean and tidy site.

Disliked It was horrible having to monitor how many KW of power we were using. Max 12kw per day then you pay extra. Each pitch has a meter/qr code and you have to do it through an app after filling in your bank details, to turn on the power. It was chilly in march and we really had to be careful with the heating settings. They have done this because people were abusing the unlimited usage during the winter months and leaving their powerful heating systems on all day whilst they were out, costing the site something about thousands of pounds per week so it's understandable if a site is open throughout the winter.

Liked A really nice clean and tidy site, the bathroom facilities are great, with private facilities. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. We had a lovely stay.

Disliked Some of the pitches are a little tight to manoeuvre.

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping. Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster, 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge of the Norfolk Coast National Landscape – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
