  • Well-maintained site with excellent facilities
  • A few miles from the Norfolk coast
  • Sixteen luxury bathrooms on site with individual showers and loos
Have you ever been to the Norfolk coast? Pine-ing to return or to see it for the first time? Come and stay at Pine Cones Caravan and Camping, near King's Lynn inland and Heacham and Hunstanton on the coastline – this is such a royally good region that King Charles and his cohorts have a pad at Sandringham just a mile away. If the king were camping, it's a fairly safe bet he would like the up to date and excellently kept amenities at Pine Cones too: 16 warm luxury bathrooms, all with their own shower, toilets, basin and storage racks; a roomy, indoors washing-up area with several sinks and plenty of drainer space; and a washing machine and dryer in a separate room to sort out the laundry. Once the essentials are sorted, send the kids off to the adventure playground to try out the treehouse, rope ladders and high level walkway, and settle down in the picnic area with coffee and eats… there's a coffee machine on site and the well-stocked shop sells a good selection of items including bread, milk, and fresh and frozen food. A selection of outdoor gym equipment is also available for the energetic holidaymaker. Off site, Pine Cones is about a mile from the nearest pub the Feathers, or trot off to award-winning the Coach and Horses. Both are in nearby Dersingham village, where there's also a supermarket, takeaway and coffee shop dishing up homemade cakes daily.

Sandy Acres electric grass and sand pitch

Liked: I recently had the pleasure of staying at a Pine cones campsite that exceeded expectations in several key areas, making for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Warm Welcome and Attentive Service

From the moment of arrival, the staff’s friendly and accommodating nature was evident. Their readiness to assist and provide information about the local area contributed significantly to a welcoming atmosphere.

Dog-Friendly Environment with Excellent Walking Opportunities

The campsite’s dog-friendly policy was a highlight, offering space and facilities for canine companions. Additionally, the surrounding area boasts numerous scenic walking trails, ideal for both leisurely strolls and more vigorous hikes, catering to a variety of preferences.

Comprehensive Amenities

Facilities on-site were well-maintained and comprehensive, including clean shower and toilet blocks, as well as convenient washing-up areas. Bar and take out food cooked on site available on order.

Disliked: While the pitches are situated in close proximity to one another, our particular spot adjacent to the site’s boundary afforded a greater sense of privacy, mitigating potential concerns regarding space. It is worth noting that the shower and toilet facilities experienced higher usage during peak times, which occasionally led to brief waiting periods.

Liked: Size of pitch. Very dog friendly, owner very welcoming.
Bens Bar and food very good.
Good walks and a good base for travelling to the coast.

Disliked: Close proximity to road was annoying as there was constant traffic noise, even through the night.

Fully-serviced hardstanding and grass touring pitch (large)

Liked: Bar was open which was nice to see, good size pitch .
Tuck shop had some essentials.
Friendly staff.
Easy access and egress
Good local sights, walks and pubs

Disliked: About ten shower cubicles for quite a few guests, they were kept in good clean order but could maybe be brought upto date and brightened up a bit.
Expensive takeaway. Chippy in dersingham was half the price but for convenience well makeup your own mind, when having a few bevies who wants to walk miles for food.

From the manager: Thank you for coming to stay with us and we look forward to welcoming you again soon. We are delighted to here that you had a good stay with us and we appreciate your comment regarding the shower cubicles and will take this onboard- there are 16 individual bathrooms for guests to use but during busy periods we do understand that there may be a slight wait and we can only apologise for this. Thank you.

Sandy Acres electric grass and sand pitch

Liked: Really lovely campsite with excellent facilities. Stayed in Sandy Acres section which backed onto beautiful heath land where we saw deer every morning. Nice big pitch, easy walk to water and toilets.
The shower block and toilets were in great condition, clean and easy to use.
Play area for the kids was nice, could do with updating as was rickety and my husband showed staff some issues with the equipment and the maintenance chap sorted it immediately, so we'll done him👍🏼
Nice on site food however a little pricey, I would suggest lower the prices of the breakfasts takeaways, if I were to pay £11.95 for a fry up I would like it on a plate with silver cutlery, not from a box.
Great prices for ice cream in reception though.
Staff everywhere seemed really helpful and approachable too.
WiFi was great.

Disliked: Already stated about food prices and couldn't get a coffee (not sure if they serve it in Ben's Bar, I went in to ask but no one was there)
Road was a little noisy and spoilt the lovely wildness of the site but that's not the sites fault, it was quiet passed 10pm though.

Local attractions

Beaches, historic houses, museums and festivals, tiny villages, market towns and fab family days out are all easily accessible from Pine Cones Caravan and Camping – after a day at Sandringham, but of course, to wave at the king first... Within a couple of miles, the deer safaris, farming activities and walking trails of Snettisham Deer Park and the sights and smells of Norfolk Lavender are both good options for a day out; Snettisham has an RSPB reserve too for those itching to twitch. But as you're probably in west/north Norfolk for the beaches, head to Heacham, Holkham and Hunstanton first, the closest sands to Pine Cones, and then take a trip to Brancaster 11 miles away; the family-friendly and very scenic sands of Sheringham, Cromer and Mundsley are a little further along the coast. (Also, the final scenes of Shakespeare in Love were filmed at Holkham, and all the beaches in these parts are fairly filmworthy, so bring your camera.) Other excellent options for days out include village hopping and shopping among the scenic sights of Dersingham, Holt, Fakenham, Aylsham and Burnham Market to pick up some local produce, or going along to one of Norfolk's festivals or events: there's usually something going on throughout the year. Pine Cones is also on the edge the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – bring walking boots, crabbing nets and plenty of room for picnics.
