Halfway house inn

  • Adults-only campsite at a Shropshire inn on the edge of Bridgnorth
  • Severn Valley Railway five minutes’ drive; Ironbridge Gorge 25 minutes
  • Hardstanding pitches with electricity; pub food and real ale on site
When it’s time to sneak off for an adults-only Shropshire break, make a break for the family-owned tourer pitches behind 16th-century Halfway House Inn on the outskirts of Bridgnorth. Suitable for most sizes of motorhome, this small caravan park has neatly landscaped pitches on hardstanding, all with electrical hook-ups and their own direct water supply (but none with a connection for toilet waste). With 14 courses under an hour’s drive and numerous fishing spots on the River Severn, Halfway House Inn makes a great base for keen golfers and anglers – and if you’re a real ale lover, all you need to do is nip into the pub for a pint of your favourite brew (the bar is open daily). If you’re intent on self-catering, you can rustle up barbecue suppers on site; although alternatively the pub serves tasty British classics from Thursday to Monday. Facilities-wise, the small on-site toilet block has separate facilities for men and women – all with bags of hot water in the showers – and the loos in the pub are open 24/7 during the main holiday months. There’s also a dedicated washing-up area so you can keep on top of the chores.

Electric grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked: Small site, to the side of Half way public house. Gravel and grass pitch, with its own water tap. Clean toilet/ shower block. One shower and toilet in both the ladies and men’s. One accessible shower room with toilet, for anyone. Plenty of hot water. Pot wash area to rear of building.
Great location for visiting surrounding area. Friendly owner, and staff.
Great pub, good food.

Disliked: Entrance to site had no signage, Do not go into car park, but take the immediate next left.
Take levelling blocks, we needed them.
Over flowing waste bin in car park, rubbish piled up next to it.

From the manager: Hi Janice

thank you for your open and honest review.

Im glad that overall, you had a pleasant stay and ticked the box to say you would return again.

I would like to shed some light on your dislikes:

1. Entrance to site had no signage: that is true and I do apologise. We had all the fences painted recently and the new signs we ordered have still not turned up

2. Take levelling blocks: out of 29 pitches I would say 1 or 2 might need levelling blocks. In future, we will make sure campers are made aware if going on these pitches.

3. Over flowing waste bin in car park: I'll be honest, Veolia who manage our wheelie bins were supposed to send us a second bin for Easter and they never did. Ive put in an official complaint in to them and passed on your comment swell.

Just a small thing to clarify, our shower block has 3 unsex toilet/ shower rooms, neither of them are gender specific.

Hope to see you again soon

Cheers Matt & Team

From the manager: Hi Taylor

Regarding no disabled access in shower? Im a bit confused as we have a fully kitted out, easily accessible disabled shower and toilet. When built, it was fully compliant, as set out by Shropshire council

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: This is an amazing place to stay - the pub is really lovely … warm, traditional feel, and a good selection on ales and ciders. We stayed in our caravan in the park at the back and it was so quiet with clean facilities and electric and water right next to the pitch. The staff in the pub were really lovely too and were really helpful when we realised we’d forgotten some essential items in our haste to get away for the weekend! Thoroughly recommended.
