Mini land rovers
Adventure play park

  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding, open-top canoeing and the inflatable assault course Wipe Out. But! This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a mini four-wheel drive course for kids, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots is on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Good size pitch on flat ground, great communication - details sent in advance including codes and map of site. Site was well maintained and next to bus stop for travel into Nottingham. The toilets and showers were clean and water very hot for cleaning dishes!

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The site was clean & well maintained aesthetically. Staff were friendly & helpful.

Disliked: The facilities. They didn’t seem to be checked or cleaned regularly - and things that were obviously in need of attention were ignored.

Gents main toilet block - 5 stalls, only 2 with working locks. Had to rescue a child in distress who had got himself locked in a stall. No “push green button to exit” sign. Not an issue for me but again, had to let out 2 young boys distressed who didn’t know how to exit the block.
In the main block 1 shower didnt work (so I found out after undressing) and there were no mops or squeegees for cleaning up after yourself. As such the ones that did work were filthy with muck and grass. Also, no curtain so your clothes get soaked.
We had teenage children with us as a group of 3 families, yet they placed us right next to the small children play area - a joy at 7:30am! Also, sited just behind the trees as you enter so we got no sun for the whole stay and every tent and awning was covered in bird muck.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: The pitches were of a good size & level for our tent.
The field we was in was very spacious for the children to run around & play ball games.

Disliked: Dirty & dated shower/toilets . Even the newer block didn't look the best.
Camped over april bank Holiday, so these facilities were well used

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Good proximity to city and things to do.

Disliked: Toilets and showers were dirty and in disrepair. Some were Blocked and unworking. No hot water in showers in main block during the week, however the sink tap did have hot water. The main block of showers mysteriously opened and was working again on the Friday, for the busy bank holiday.

Liked: Easy access, clean campsite and shower/ toilet blocks.

Disliked: Campsite shop wasn’t open as stated during opening hours. Finding the activities wasn’t easy and when we did it was very expensive to do anything, especially eat. Campsite WiFi didn’t work.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Self-service check-in via an email in advance. While I didn't use them, they have a Revolution washer and dryer facility and the location is large and easy to find.

Disliked: The toilet/shower facilities always seemed to be really dirty. I did see someone trying to access them to clean but this was early morning, while they were being used so I don't know if they all got cleaned every day. It would be good for each compartment to have a floor blade squeegee and some cleaning spray to wipe down after each use.

Liked: Easy check in process.

Disliked: Dog poo on pitch and around site. I know this is the dog owners responsibility but maybe a few more bins or signs would help?
