  • Family-friendly Lincolnshire caravan park at Chapel St Leonards
  • Ingoldmells Beach 15 minutes’ walk; Fantasy Island 10 minutes’ drive
  • Fishing lake and well-stocked tackle shop; pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Tucked into the seaside village of Chapel St Leonards, 15 minutes’ drive from Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast, Lakeland Caravan Park is a family-run and family-friendly caravan park that's somewhat removed from the busy main east-coast seaside resorts. Being a popular place, this site still gets busy during the school holidays, so if you’re after a quieter sojourn it's best to book for spring or autumn. But whichever month you choose for your break, you'll be staying on a well-drained pitch with electric hook-up, and you can use toilets, showers and washing-up facilities in the brick facilities block, which has disabled access. Dogs are welcome and can be walked on Ingoldmells Beach (15 minutes’ stroll). Having the beach nearby is excellent of course, and another one of the big draws at this site is the fishing – there's a lake within the grounds where anglers can cast out their lines daily, and weekly matches are open to all caravan site guests. There’s a very well-stocked tackle shop selling fresh bait and everything from budget rod-and-reel deals to get novices started to fishing gear from top brands. Sea fishing is also available from Ingoldmells Beach. Anything else you might need? There are shops, lots of pubs, amusement arcades and night-time entertainment all within 10 minutes’ drive of the pitches.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Liked everything about it. I think other reviews have been blown out of context. It's your basic camp site with what you need. Bins changed constantly, toilets/showers were not far at all, literally on the other side of the tackle shop. They were cleaned and stocked. The floors were dirty however that was due to rain and people trailing mud which cant be helped at all. Beach literally over the hill outside gates and was about a nice 30 minute stroll to Ingoldmells. The ducks and geese were actually nice to see, the poop wasn't an issue like made out to be. It's bound to be there as its there habitat thats something the owners cant be blamed for at all so I think others are unfair to comment on that. There was a fair few of us and we all got to pitch within steps of eachother. Overall, decent camp site very ideal for touching base I would actually camp here again.

Disliked Weather wasn't on our side but cant control that. Nothing to really dislike.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Close to beach and local amenities.
Other people staying on the campsite were friendly and helpful.

Disliked Rude site management. No clear instructions or welcome information.
Made to pay £10 deposit for a fob to get into toilets, which are a far walk from the tent sites especially with small children.
Told each fishing rod is £3, per day, this was stated 2nd day in instead of on arrival.
When asking about information regarding the site and lake, blunt responses given. Not a welcoming attitude from the man who walks around with the stick marking out the pitches at all and not helpful.
When the tackle shop is open rules are enforced, once the staff leave When the shop closes its a free for all.
Cars entering the site at speed.
Loud music. Shouting and swearing. Doing donuts on the road. Very unsafe.
This happened each night. The second the police arrived to move these joy riders along.
Road to site is very narrow, difficult to access with 2 big cars or campervans oncoming.
Geese at night are very very loud, impossible to get a solid night if your not a deep sleeper. Duck pooh everywhere.
Toilets and showers need a upgrade, old and dirty.
Pitches are very close together.
Metal fences around site. Felt like a prison.
No entertainment for younger children. No park or onsite games available. Phone signal is very bad also.
Very basic. I wouldnt recommend.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Caravan park is in a very nice location. The regular guest at the park where all very friendly. The few Anglers I spoke to where also very friendly. We was allowed to check in before the checking time. Caravan park in general was kept very tidy. Toilets and showers seems to be cleaned twice a day even tho some guest where very messy overall wasn't to bad. One of the young lads who worked there even found me a big bad of wood for my firepit as i forgot to bring any, thabkyou for that.Would stay again

Disliked My only real complaint was the walk to the toilet block. It wasn't miles but there was definitely space to give the campers there own toilet block. At 3am in the morning it was just a hassel. Staff where not rude but also not overly friendly they kind kept themselves to themselves. I feel everyone would of felt more welcome if they engaged with the guest more.

Local attractions

Fan of bright lights and big amusements? The famed Fantasy Island theme park (10 minutes’ drive) in Skegness opens up stalls and rides when summertime hits. There’s more action over at Skegness Pier (20 minutes), including bowling and laser tag games. If you’re keener to avoid crowds and unwind on quiet sands, Sutton on Sea (20 minutes) should do the trick with its long sandy beach. Another secluded bay is Huttoft beach (15 minutes), a quiet stretch where many folk like to go surfing, swimming and fishing. Inland, take your hiking boots off to the trails of the Lincolnshire Wolds National Landscape (20 minutes). For some wildlife watching, there are a couple of really nice spots within a short drive of the park. The first is Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve (25 minutes), a seasonal habitat for waders, wildfowl and birds of prey set back along the coast. The other is Natureland Seal Sanctuary (20 minutes), a centre that rescues seal pups. Other adorable residents include alpacas, penguins, reptiles and colourful butterflies, so there should be plenty to feast your eyes on.
