Parking up for the Peak District? Take your tourer off to Ashbourne Touring and Camping Park, a well-equipped park in a handy spot just off the A517 a mile from the village of Hulland Ward. Easy access from the main road means it’s nice and straightforward to get set up at this Derbyshire site – and that location also means you’ll be handily close to the village’s pub and farm shop (a useful source of supplies for your barbecue back at base). Bus services from the stop just outside can take you into nearby Ashbourne – or you can drive over there in about 10 minutes. In fact, everything here has been designed to make life nice and easy for guests, with well-kept ample toilet and shower facilities, a chemical disposal area, a washing-up area and a launderette provided. Dogs are welcome to join you on site as long as they're well behaved. The wifi service provided is also likely to come in handy, given that you'll probably want to plan lots of days out around the area. The edge of the Peak District National Park is about 10 minutes' drive away, as is the start of the traffic-free Tissington Trail, so you'll be in a good position for getting out to explore the lovely landscapes. And there are plenty of other attractions around too, including Alton Towers and the Chatsworth estate.

Liked: Staff were very friendly on arrival, directed to the pitch with a useful little handout. Pitch was spacious and well kept. Shower, toilets are exceptional and up there with the best we’ve been to.

Disliked: We didn’t have any dislikes, stored exactly what we wanted which was to relax. The WiFi didn’t work for us but we didn’t come to connect so want bothered, I tested it as I doubted it would work based on the where we were pitched.

Liked: Pitches are big. Kids loved going to the park. There was a football net, basketball net and a swing. Not much but kept the kids entertained. Lovely owners. Showers and toilets clean and tidy. We are already looking when we can come back. Lovely little find.

Liked: It was quiet even when it got busy on the weekend
Easy access.
Close to Peak District attractions.
Good dog walking area.
Friendly staff.
Toilet block and showers were very clean.

Disliked: The bins are very far away at the entrance of the site.
Chemical toilet area isn't great, the water pressure is very high for cleaning out and the waste drain isn't very well designed.
Wi-Fi intermittent at best.
Pitch was perfect size for us but we didn't have an awning. Not sure where we would have put the car if we did have an awning.

Liked: My stay at this campsite was absolutely delightful. From the very beginning, it was clear that everything was organized to a very high standard. The camping areas are perfectly prepared — clean, level, and well-maintained, making it a pleasure to park a motorhome or set up a tent.

The sanitary facilities deserve special praise — they were spotlessly clean throughout my entire stay, which greatly enhanced the overall comfort.

The atmosphere on-site was very friendly and peaceful, allowing me to truly relax. I can wholeheartedly recommend this campsite to everyone — families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
