It’s likely you’ll soon grow fond of this farm in the Tuscan countryside. You see, the dog-friendly stays among the chestnut trees at Federico Farm in the hilly village of Grondola are very memorable indeed. Surrounded by woods and rivers, this is the place to go to get your outdoors fix… This hilly spot is usually cool and shaded, but if you need to cool down yet more, there’s a gorgeous river to bathe in a short drive away. Icier waters are in store at the Gorges of the Straits of Giaredo, 25 minutes’ drive away; thermal wetsuits may be needed for this plunge, actually. If you'd like to visit more tepid waters, it’s an hour’s drive from Federico Farm to the Liguria coast (famed for spots like Cinque Terre, which is an extra 20 minutes’ drive on top). First, get to know the local area; the site has information points if you need any pointers (like fishing in the local streams or searching for the popular local mushroom fungo di Borgotaro IGP). The farm is in the medieval village of Grondola, which has a hilltop castle abandoned in the 16th century. Stop by Pontremoli too. A 15-minute drive away, the small city has a small, steep lane leading to Castello del Piagnaro, as well as a bell tower, riverfront and a pretty piazza. In the right season, guests at Federico Farm are welcome to pick chestnuts from the trees. A fitness trail weaves through the woods for those who want to work up a sweat. There are also two sports fields for playing rugby, basketball, football and volleyball, as well as a trampoline and archery, darts, ping pong and badminton activities. A large hall hosts events and entertainment.

Em va agradar Sehr ruhig und naturnah. Freundliches Personal. Wunderbarer Ort, um unter hohen Tannen und Kastanienbäumen die Ruhe und die Natur zu geniessen.
Einfach, sauber.
Wäre auch für sportbegeisterte Familien: es gibt ein Fussballfeld, ein Volleyball/ Federballfeld, Pingpong Tisch und 2 grosse Trampolin. Stört aber die Ruhe überhaupt nicht.

Angefangen bei Danielle,der Gastgeber,der sehr sympathisch bis hin zur Sauberkeit.Es gibt in jeder Ecke etwas zu entdecken.Und die Ruhe im Wald war das Highlight.

No em va agradar Die Anfahrt war sehr herausfordernd.Auf Google ist die Strecke nicht gut beschrieben,weil ein Straße einfach nie fertig gebaut wurde laut den netten Anwohner. Das hat aber nichts mit dem Campingplatz ansich zu tun,der war richtig Klasse.

Em va agradar Sehr schöner Platz inmitten der Natur. Von Pontremoli über eine kurvenreiche Straße auch mit dem Wohnmobil gut zu erreichen.
Wir waren hier für eine Zwischenübernachtung
Sehr netter Gastgeber.
Sanitärausstattung einfach, aber sauber.
Ist eben Camping und kein Glamping.
Viele Spiele und Spielmöglichkeiten vorhanden.
Wichtig: Kein Restaurant in der unmittelbaren Nähe (nicht so schlimm, wenn man selbst kochen kann 😉)

Em va agradar Peace and tranquility. Large fenced in area for our dog to have a run around. Self service honesty bar. Excellent bathrooms with lovely hot showers. Cleanliness. Good WiFi.

No em va agradar Not sure the lights in the pine area need to be on all night..should be a celebration of dark skies in my opinion.

You’re likely to have heard of Pisa (an hour and 40 minutes) and its Leaning Tower or maybe Lerici (an hour and 10 minutes) on the Italian Riviera, where poet Percy Bysshe Shelley met his demise. Torre del Lago (an hour and a half), surrounded by woods and mountains, is lesser known but equally as stunning. Cities of arts and culture are all around too, like the walled town of Volterra (two hours and 15 minutes) and Parma (an hour and a half). Lucca (an hour and a half) has Renaissance walls and the Casa di Puccini museum, dedicated to the famed opera composer Giacomo Puccini.
