Adventurous types, unite, and make your way to Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park. This is the type of place where holidaymakers can hike all day long, and it's peaceful too, on the banks of the river Gwyrfai with views of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountains and the north Wales countryside. There are walking routes directly from the site – good news for those with dogs or a lust for adventure. One of the UK’s longest heritage railways, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, passes through the site on its 25-mile journey past the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). You might want to board it yourself Caernarfon (10 minutes’ drive) and see if you can spot your patch of land as you pass by. That’s after you’ve experienced one of the boat trips that run along the Menai Strait from the quayside below Caernarfon Castle, of course. There’s a very generous serving of facilities at Bryn Gloch Caravan and Camping Park, from heated bathrooms and wifi to playgrounds and a games room. The pitches are spacious, giving you plenty of opportunities to soak in the scenery.

Em va agradar The location was perfect for walks and amenities, for all ages. Clean toilet and shower facilities on site in every field. Showers were hot, perfect after a long day of hiking

Em va agradar Large pitches, amazing views, staff helpful. Facilities were clean and spacious. Small shop onsite if you need anything. Good value for money.

There is a bus stop right outside the camp, we caught the bus as we had booked the Snowdonia Star Railway Trip - which was well worth the money, the dogs even came with us.

No em va agradar This isn't really a dislike, more of an observation. We were in field 3 there was only 3 showers, 5 toilets and 2 washing up areas which were where outside 2 of the showers which was a bit awkward when someone was in the shower. If the campsite was busy this felt it wouldn’t be enough for the area if the field was full, I know there was a sign up that specified if busy use the facilities in another field.

Em va agradar Location is beautiful and facilities fine.

No em va agradar Customer service isn’t great as staff are hard to get a hold off and a bit rude, hiring fire is unclear and costs per day, went in September and it was really quiet but had 3 guests all squished together still for some reason.

Em va agradar Very tidy and clean site with multiple shower, toilet and wash sinks all also very clean and tidy.
Great location 15min by car from Llanberis
Also Wi-Fi included which really helps as signal in that area is intermittent.

No em va agradar No shower curtains in the individual Shepard hut shower rooms so feels a little bit exposed but no one can see in as windows are frosted glass.

Adventurous types can tackle the fastest zipwire in the world at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (half an hour). With underground trampolines based in slate caverns, you’re likely to work up a sweat. GreenWood Family Park (20 minutes) has traditional rides, including family-friendly rollercoasters. Where next? Perhaps Caernarfon Airport (25 minutes), where there’s an aviation museum and pleasure flights along the Menai Strait and around Snowdon? Portmeirion (35 minutes), an Italianate village featured on the telly? Or Llanberis (20 minutes), where the mountain railway departs? Llanberis is close to the National Slate Museum (20 minutes), which has the largest working water wheel in Britain.
