Camping Barbados

It wouldn’t be a weekend away if you didn’t have a trip to Oistins (10 minutes’ drive) – this is where Barbados comes to party on Friday and Saturday evenings, with dancing, music, craft stalls and of course the delights of the freshly cooked seafood dinners. Miami beach, just outside Oistins, is worth a trip too – its white sands are quite stunning. A little closer to home, Silver Sands (10 minutes’ walk) is the place for kitesurfing, paddleboarding and surfing nearby. For other sporting endeavours, play a round at the Barbados Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive), get combative at Paintball Concepts (15 minutes) or see if you can catch a game of cricket at the Kensington Oval (half an hour). The island’s capital Bridgetown (25 minutes) is always worth a stroll, or you may like to head up to the centre of the island to see the limestone stalagmites and stalactites that lurk underground at Harrison’s Cave Eco-Adventure Park (40 minutes). Meanwhile, those who like their drinks can see them in production at the Banks Beer Brewery Tour (10 minutes) and the Mount Gay Visitor Centre (25 minutes).
